Reviews Summary

Diners rave about the unique experience of picking live lobsters and the delicious, fresh seafood, particularly the lobster dishes and bisque. The old-school charm and friendly, kind service also stand out as significant positives. While most reviews are glowing, a few mention the lobster being overcooked and some find the experience not inexpensive or as fun as expected.

"This was probably one of the BEST places I've ever eaten at. I wish they were in Jersey! Everything was just so perfectly made, down to every single spice. I truly felt I was dropped into the Ratatouille movie eating the best food in the area.

Food:
We both had lobster bisque and then lobster fettuccine(mine with penne noodles and his with long noodles-the ones that are a pain in the butt to eat!
We were so full after, but we wanted to try dessert so we brought it home. I had blueberry pie and he had some sort of 3 cake thing? Blueberry pie is a decent size and so yummy!

I'd say we'd be back again for sure but the 8 hour drive in between us may alter those plans. Thank you for making amazing food we haven't had in a while!"

"Unforgettable Lobster and Unmatched Kindness in Maine

Our summer trip to Maine wouldn’t have been complete without a stop at The Lobster Pound, and it turned out to be one of our favorite dining experiences of the season. The whole setup is such a fun experience—my daughter loved being able to choose her own lobster straight from the tanks and have it prepared fresh. The lobster pasta was overflowing with tender, perfectly cooked chunks of lobster—no skimping here! I ordered the white fish, and it was easily one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in years: light, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.

What really makes this place shine, though, is the people. On our drive home to New Jersey, we realized my daughter had left her Beats headphones behind. One quick call later, and the team not only tracked them down but also mailed them back to us at no charge. That kind of thoughtfulness and care is rare, and we were so grateful—it turned a small disaster into another reason to rave about this spot.

The wait wasn’t bad at all, and while you do wait, you can soak in the outdoor lobster-picking scene, which makes the time pass quickly. Between the fresh, delicious food, the warm atmosphere, and their incredible kindness, The Lobster Pound is the kind of place you’ll remember long after your trip ends. Maine was beautiful, but this meal (and the people who made it special) was the highlight."

The Best Places to Eat Lobster in Ogunquit, Maine

A fixture in Ogunquit since 1931, the first stop at Main Street’s Lobster Pound is its large outdoor tank, where you select your own live lobster to be promptly boiled in Maine seawater and served cut and cracked. The sides–freshly baked bread, steak tips, corn on the cob, and more—are delicious, but be sure to leave room for deep-dish blueberry pie. 504 Main St., Ogunquit, ogunquitlobsterpound.com
