"Nestled right on Route 1, The Egg & I is exactly what you hope for in a classic Maine breakfast joint. We stopped in during the off-season, right at 7 AM, and had the place to ourselves — though by 8, it was already starting to fill up. I can only imagine how lively it gets during the peak May–August rush.
The menu has all the breakfast staples you could want — hearty portions, fresh coffee, and that old-school diner charm. The space is super clean, the staff are welcoming, and there's plenty of parking, which is always a plus along Route 1.

"This place is one of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to and I'll tell you why. First, even when there are waits to be seated (after 8:30am), they're incredibly fast at seating us. Second, their food. The home fries are the best I've had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned. Everyone loved their food, including the baby. Third, the team spirit. We had a different person each of the 5 days we went here. I want to mention Omar because he made sure we were good on drinks and even danced with our 2 year old back to the table. This kind of service doesn't exist in this world often. This didn't detract from the absolutely phenomenal effort that the whole team puts in. Fourth, anyone with a "be nice" motto is great company. This place is a winner and we'll be back every time we're in the area."
