Reviews Summary

Haleiwa Joe's Haiku Gardens offers a truly unique dining experience with its stunning garden views and lush surroundings. Many praise the signature prime rib and coconut shrimp, along with the strong cocktails. However, be prepared for potential long waits, as they don't take reservations, and some diners have noted an unpleasant mildew odor in certain areas.

"One of the best meals ever with spectacular views! Everything from the seafood chowder to the dessert and everything in between was great. Spared No Expense! But really, the cost was quite reasonable compared to other venues and especially resort regions.

We first arrived the night before around 6pm and were greeted with a 2.5hr minimum wait. With the jet lag, that was just not viable. We opted to return the next day at 3pm and wait an hour until it opened at 4pm. When it opened, the line was already massive.

Definitely get there early!"

Wes Swain

"Haleiwa Joe’s in Haiku is a beautiful spot surrounded by lush greenery—it feels like you're dining right in the middle of a tropical garden. The views alone make it worth the visit, especially around sunset.

The food is excellent. The steak is a good size and cooked just right, and the seafood is fresh and flavorful. Drinks are strong and tasty, and the staff is friendly and attentive even when it's packed.

It does get busy, so getting there early is a good idea since they don’t take reservations. While you wait, you can walk around the garden and enjoy the scenery.

Great place for a relaxed dinner with friends and family."

sead ademovic

"The food was delicious our party ordered Coconut Shrimp, Prime rib, Steak and Salmon. The service was very good. We had a ten minute wait to be seated. The restaurant opens at 4pm and closes at 9pm. We arrived and got in line at 3:20. There is beautiful view from every table. The garden downstairs is very green with beautiful flowers and trees around it. This area would be lovely for an event."

Restaurants in Kaneohe

The Haleiwa location may be the namesake and claim the surf, but this windward-side branch offers knock-'em-dead views and a tiki torch–lit atmosphere after dark along with the friendly vibe and grilled seafood. In addition to surf-and-turf favorites, look for special preparations of each day's catch, which is delivered straight from the Honolulu Fish Auction. Come for an early dinner and a stroll around the pond and through the Haiku Gardens directly behind the restaurant.

These are the Best 7 Oahu Restaurants with a View

Haleiwa Joes has a more laid-back atmosphere, but you’ll still get amazing views and food here. There are two locations of this great restaurant: the original in Haleiwa (North Shore), and one in Kaneohe (East Oahu). Both have lovely tropical settings with outdoor seating, but I prefer the views at their Kaneohe location a little more, especially since it is so different than other Oahu restaurants with a view.
