Reviews Summary

Boots & Kimo's is celebrated for its signature macadamia nut pancakes and fun, sporty atmosphere. Many visitors find the Hawaiian-style breakfast and lunch dishes to be hearty and delicious. However, some diners mention that the service can be impersonal, and prices are considered high by some, with occasional remarks about inconsistent food quality or salty dishes.

"This place lives up to the hype--especially if you're here for the macadamia nut pancakes. They're soft, fluffy, and drenched in that signature creamy mac nut sauce that's rich without being overly sweet. Definitely a must-try.

We also had the loco moco and omelet, both hearty and flavorful. The portions are generous, and everything came out hot and well-cooked. It's comfort food done right, perfect after a beach morning or a chill island day.

The space is casual and laid-back, with fast, friendly service. Expect a bit of a wait during peak times, but the food's worth it."

"Fun sporty atmosphere with football helmets, baseball signs, wheeties boxes on the walls. A sign posted out front stating they will take your order outside, pay inside at the booth, get your table, then they bring out your food. I ordered the seafood special omelet with hash browns. Inside the omelet was crab, shrimp, onions, mushrooms and cheese. 1 word, SCRUMPTIOUS! My husband ordered the Kahlua pork eggs Benedict with fried rice. His egg yolks were not soft, but that was the ONLY drawback. He thoroughly enjoyed his also. We both got water and he got root beer. Total was $54 & change. Not sure what Guy Fieri ordered here but we're glad we ordered what we did. There was a wait to get in, but the wait did not take more than 15 minutes, and well worth it!!!"

A 3-day Oahu itinerary for the first-time visitor

Take the detour to Kailua, where you’ll find popular breakfast and lunch spots Kalapawai Market and Boots & Kimo’s. Step out onto the shores of the often Instagrammed Kailua and Lanikai Beaches, before taking the scenic route to the North Shore on Kamehameha Highway. On the way, you’ll pass Kaneohe Bay, Waiahole Poi Factory (stop here for Hawaiian plate lunches), Kualoa Ranch and a natural landmark known as Crouching Lion. You'll see coastal views of beaches and undeveloped valleys before entering Laie, where the Polynesian Cultural Center and Mormon Temple are located.

These Hawaii pancakes are worth their own trip

At the locally owned and family-operated Hawaii restaurant Boots & Kimo’s Homestyle Kitchen, pancakes aren’t just pancakes. Plump and moist, banana, blueberry or plain, the stack of two or three pancakes is absolutely smothered in a creamy macadamia nut sauce — a thick white layer completely covering the pancakes underneath — and sprinkled with a fair helping of chopped macadamia nuts on top.

[Oahu, Hawaii] Best Cheap Eats, Part 1

We came to this diner on a whim as we were meeting up with some friends in the area and they suggested this. This seemed to a local favorite as well as a tourist destination. At noon, there was an 1.5 hour wait, and the outside patio was packed with waiting customers despite the light sprinkle that day.
