Deckhand Dave's is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh and delicious fish tacos, with many highlighting the beer-battered halibut and rockfish as standouts. The vibrant outdoor atmosphere with fire pits and quick, friendly service adds to the appeal. "4 Stars – Fun, Unique Spot in Downtown Juneau
Deckhand Dave’s was recommended to us by a local, and it turned out to be a great choice for a quick and casual bite. The setup is really unique, it feels like a lively outdoor food truck park right in the heart of downtown Juneau. There’s plenty of seating available, much of it under cover, and even some tables with fire pits, which makes it a cozy spot to relax, especially on cooler Alaskan days.
The atmosphere is laid-back and fun, with a good mix of locals and visitors creating a friendly, energetic vibe. It’s not your typical sit-down restaurant, but that’s part of the charm. The food came out quickly and was fresh and flavorful, perfect for grabbing something tasty without taking too much time away from exploring Juneau.
Overall, it’s a memorable and unique dining experience that captures a bit of Juneau’s local character. Definitely worth checking out if you’re downtown and in the mood for something casual, flavorful, and different."

"If and when you visit Juneau, Alaska
Fish Taco:
The fish taco was absolutely fantastic—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The fish was tender and fresh, wrapped in a soft corn tortilla with just the right amount of tangy sauce and crunchy cabbage toppings. It was a perfect harmony of textures and flavors that left me wanting more.
Loaded Fish Fries:
The loaded fish fries were a true delight! Crispy fries smothered tangy sauces. The fish pieces on top were juicy and well-seasoned, adding a wonderful contrast to the crispy fries. An indulgent and satisfying dish that hits all the right notes!
Homemade Ice Cream & Waffle Cone:
To top off the meal, the homemade ice cream was creamy and rich, bursting with authentic flavor. The waffle cone was perfectly crunchy and sweet, making each bite a delightful treat. A fantastic finish that added a sweet, comforting touch to an already incredible meal"

The Best Place to Eat in Juneau, Alaska?: A Juneau Food Truck Park Review -
Deckhand Dave’s serves up salmon, rock fish, and halibut fish tacos that are fresh and zesty with a punch of heat, if you opt for a bit of spice that is. (The salmon and halibut are fried, but if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, the charred rock fish hits the spot.) They are topped with pico de gallo, cabbage, cilantro, and sauce, and pair perfectly with an Alaskan beer on a hot sunny day. You can snag one ala carte for $5ish, an order of 3, or, my personal recommendation, get the 3 fish sampler for $14.99. It’s one of my favorite places to eat in Juneau, and one that shouldn’t be missed.

In each Alaskan city that I’ve visited, I usually discover one place I just can’t get enough of, and I call it “Best in Show.” In Juneau, that place is Deckhand Dave’s, which I can’t not stop by when I’m in town. Their fish tacos are absolutely fantastic, and the location – with other businesses all in a food park – is great fun. After having tried all of their fish tacos, I can confidently say that the blackened rockfish ones are best – but if you’re making your first visit, give the fish taco sampler a try first to find your own favorite, then order more of the ones you love.

While there were many choices there, none were vegan (except the bar). In retrospect, I should have gotten something to go from several selections at Devil’s Club Brewing across the street.
