Thanks to their fun video games, free popcorn, and great pizza, every child in Juneau loves Bullwinkle’s, and every adult has fond memories of growing up with it. With two locations on either end of Juneau (one in downtown and one in Mendenhall Mall), this pizza parlor has seen more than three decades of loyal customers. Some favorites are the Hero sandwich and the Taco pizza.

We also ate at Bullwinkles Pizza which was good and The Broiler at the Mendenhall Mall which a local place. By far, we liked the Twisted Fish the best.

Bullwinkle’s – Yes, this establishment is named after a fictional character, but there’s nothing silly about what this pizza joint has to offer. In its 40-year history, little has changed about Bullwinkle’s except for the pizza, as it seems to get better every time you visit. If you’re in the mood for something a bit different, the restaurant also has great sandwiches and an extensive salad bar.

For the first recommendation that Elizabeth added to my list, she chimed in with Bullwinkles Pizza. Specifically, she said that the Bullwinkles out in the Valley had special hometown flavors she loved – probably a lot like how I feel about Moose’s Tooth in Anchorage. However, if you don’t have a car, there’s also a Bullwinkles location in downtown Juneau.

There’s lots of pizza places in Juneau, but Bullwinkles is known for its huge pizzas. It also offers a kid-friendly environment – arcade games, plenty of space for playing and running around. Make sure to visit the spot on an empty stomach, otherwise you’ll have trouble finishing the pizzas!

If you don't have mobility issues, about a mile walk from the Tram (not too far from the Hangar on the Wharf) is a pizza place called Bullwinkles. 20 years ago, I would have told you they serve some of the best pizza in the country. Now a days, I'd say that the serve an OK pizza.

You’ll find specialty pizzas that are unique and provide some local flair. Plus, you can get sandwiches, wings or salads. With two convenient locations, you can pick up your order or have it delivered directly to your hotel.

I thought it was risky – we didn’t hear about this place on the food tour, no one recommended it to us, it wasn’t on the main road, and honestly I didn’t even see it on the map when I searched ‘pizza’ the night before.
