Reviews Summary

Rusty's Riverfront Grill is celebrated for its generous portions of flavorful seafood and steaks, and its friendly service in a lively riverfront setting. While many praise dishes like shrimp and grits and blackened redfish, a few diners have noted that some items can be overly salted. Desserts, particularly the bread pudding and Mississippi Mud Brownie, are also popular highlights.

"First- parking is limited along the street. There is a lot up the hill behind the museum on Jackson Street or down below along the waterfront. During the bright afternoon, that’s fine but at night, the areas not along the street might be questionable. A sketchy person was eyeing our vehicle when we returned to our car.
Service was excellent. Even during the lunch rush, there was less than a 10 minute wait. Waitress was very helpful and attentive. Please check out the menu online because there are so many choices. There is a lunch special every day. We chose the pick two with bay scallops broiled and a crab cake with a side salad and cheese grits. Lots of scallops! The crab cake was tasty and full of crab- not breading. The remoulade sauce was nice and tangy. The grits were nice and cheesy. The side salad was a mix of greens and iceberg lettuce with a pickled green bean and pickle okra and a half hard boiled egg. Their bleu cheese dressing is very unique and freshly made. It’s not a traditional bleu cheese at all ( husband hated it since he likes traditional bleu cheese). It’s more like a tartar sauce with dill and chunks of bleu cheese. The coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly and it was a huge platter full! The dipping sauce was sweet and spicy. If you are a fan of bread pudding, you will want to make room for this! The portion is gigantic. The bourbon sauce was perfect on this warm, tasty dish. There are other desserts too. They have a full bar, as well. Overall, a great restaurant with excellent food and wonderful service."

"Fantastic Food & Service After a Day of Antiquing!

After a full day of antiquing in Jackson, MS, and the surrounding areas, we stopped for dinner at Rusty's Riverfront Grill around 6 PM on a Tuesday. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, we were greeted warmly at the door and seated immediately—an impressive start to our experience.
Our waiter took our full order right away, yet our appetizer of fried green tomatoes arrived in a perfect amount of time before our entrees. For dinner, we had the blackened shrimp with a loaded baked potato and grilled asparagus, as well as the blackened redfish with green beans and cheesy grits. The portions were generous, and every bite was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Even though we were full, we couldn’t resist getting Mississippi Mud Brownie to go! The service was prompt, friendly, and made our visit even better.
If you’re in the area, this spot is a must-visit for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!"

"Came here on a recommendation from a trusted local.

Rusty's is a very good seafood restaurant with great staff and an inviting atmosphere. Parking is easy. The restaurant was very busy but we only had a couple minute wait.

The menu is filled with great items but I opted for the specialty - a blackened grouper fillet with a Creole sauce. Terrific combination. My spouse picked the grilled tuna which was perfectly seasoned and prepared.

You won't leave here hungry. Side dishes are on the large side. The main dish is too so you may need a takeout container if something hits your fancy - like any of the deserts.

The calamari appetizer was a bit on the well-done side and the individual pieces were rather small and mostly breading so we ate only about a third of what was on the plate. Rusty's has an upcharge on some of the side items and a 3% credit card charge that went unnoticed until the bill arrived.

All in all, we'll be back to try some more of the menu and will try to keep the bill under $100."
