Pearl Street Bagels is your morning solution for a quick coffee and bagel fix. They refuse to toast their bagels as they argue that fresh bread doesn’t need any modification.

Voted the locals’ favorite coffee shop for the past four years running, Pearl Street Bagels is an integral part of the Jackson Hole community. There are two locations for Pearl Street Bagels and although the bagels are great in either location, the coffee is a different story. For whatever reason, the baristas producing the coffee in the Wilson, Wyoming location far exceed what the downtown Jackson, Pearl Street location produces. There could be something in the water, but we head to the Wilson location every morning to get a quad shot 12 ounce mocha and never regret our decision.

Wilson Option: For a quick bagel sandwich “to go” find Pearl Street Bagel. This fine local chain, their other location is in town, boasts healthy and quick options if you are in a rush to get into the mountains. They have a fine selection of deli meats, cheeses, veggies and salads for you to choose from to “Make Your Own”; It’s a tough choice, but I think my favorite just might be their Smoked Salmon, Wild Caught of course, lunch bagel.

(They argue they don’t have to toast because they bake their bagels fresh all day.) This bagelry, the first in Wyoming when it opened in 1990, boils and bakes its bagels in the East Coast tradition, resulting in the perfect bagel texture: subtly crisp on the exterior, irresistibly chewy within. Go for the Everything Bagel, encrusted with sesame and poppy seeds, crunchy nubs of garlic and onion, and a healthy sprinkle of sea salt.

For those who aren’t big breakfast people, or need to grab a quick bite to eat, Pearl Street Bagels is the place for you. Located on Pearl Street, between the Post Office and Pearl Street Market, they bake their bagels fresh and have plenty of flavors of bagels and homemade cream cheeses to choose from. I typically ask what bagels are the warmest (freshest) before ordering since they do not toast their bagels.

Otherwise, friendly local joints like Pearl Street Bagels for coffee, sandwiches and freshly baked bagels or Pinky G’s for pizza and beers are great choices that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Pearl Street Bagels $ – (Jackson) This locally owned coffee house and bagel shop is a must try. With a location in both Jackson and Wilson you are never too far from a cub of locally roasted coffee or one of their signature bagels. The local’s tip here is they don’t toast their bagels so don’t ask and choose from a variety of house made cream cheese flavors.

Other spots worth a trip in the car include Q Roadhouse & Brewing Company, whose pork is legit, and, for breakfast, Pearl Street Bagels, a place that, in our estimation, has the finest everything bagel made at altitude in the world. The best beer in town can be found at Snake River Brewing. The food at the brewpub is adequate, but the beer is the real show.

My siblings and I must have had an after-school bagel here at least three out of five school days. They are a bagel bakery with two locations – one on Pearl Avenue in East Jackson and the other in downtown Wilson.

Pearl Street Bagels – We thought this place was pretty good. Not a ton of vegan options for our fellow plant-based friends, but they have a fair selection of options otherwise!. Tom had a plain bagel with peanut butter, and Kate had an onion bagel with hummus, cucumbers, and onion.

For early risers, a trip to Pearl Street Bagels—with locations in Jackson and Wilson—is a must. But a word to the wise: Don’t ask for your bagel to be toasted. These bagels are so fresh and warm that toasting is entirely unnecessary (and borderline offensive).

Pearl Street Bagels - Famously known for their bagels and likely the first business in town to feature local artists on a rotating basis. Any given day, you can find photography or painting or a mixture of both dressing their walls.

(If you’re willing to bike on the road, Bill from Wheel Wranglers recommended Pearl Street Bagels or Stagecoach in Wilson as good places to eat. However, I did not bike past the school so can’t provide any insight on the ride.)

Every town needs an excellent bagel shop and this is Jackson’s!. They have two locations around town (one in downtown Jackson and one in Wilson) that locals flock to so I suggest you do too.

There’s also Picnic for the west-enders, Pearl Street Bagels for the old school locals and Cowboy Coffee for new school locals. All are good for a morning brew, baked treat and chit chat.
