Also worthwhile: Moosewood (the original veggie restaurant of cookbook fame), and if you can get a loaf of chocolate cherry bread from any of the Ithaca Bakery locations you'll be in heaven. And if you need lunch, there's a Mega-Weg (Wegman's) on Route 13, across from Thai cuisine. God I miss that grocery store!

In the City Directory of 1957, the bakery boasted unique baked goods including Italian Vienna Bread and had a phone number with 4 digits (something anyone born over the last 50 years is sure to find mind-boggling).

I stumbled into Ithaca Bakery while I was on a run, and to my surprise, there was a whole wall of bulk espresso beans. Ithaca Bakery and Collegetown Bagel are owned by the same people, and offer a similar menu, with some minor differences. They have spots scattered throughout Ithaca. My favorites are Collegetown Bagels on Cornell’s campus, and Ithaca Bagel on route 13.

Ithaca Coffee Company and the Ithaca Bakery are great places to check for pre-made gourmet blends. If you want to venture into making hot chocolate from scratch, GreenStar Co-op sells some of the best local ingredients for a decadent cocoa experience.

Oh, and I always forget about Hope's Way (in the Triphammer Mall) and Ithaca Bakery (on Route 13, northbound Meadow Street side). Don't go to their locations too often, but they've done a nice job catering a couple of business lunches I've been to.

If by chance you are on Cornell campus you can get them at temple of Zeus. For grocery store donuts, I think p&c fresh is better than wegmans (scandalous, I know.)

They use fresh romaine lettuce, homemade croutons, and a creamy, flavorful dressing. A reliable choice for a satisfying, traditional salad.
