What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about Gorgers for their incredibly delicious and massive sandwiches, with a particular highlight on the freshly baked bread and creative, international flavors. The value is consistently praised, offering generous portions that satisfy. While many find the experience exceptional, some note a limited beverage selection beyond homemade lemonade or water.
"We stopped here for lunch. Bread they bake to use for their sandwiches was amazing. Worth to try Maple glazed donut holes at the cashier. Sandwiches are huge. I ordered small and it was more than enough. A few tables inside to eat in and some outside tables. Great food. I would try everything on the menu if I live in Ithaca!"

"After traveling a few hours I decided to grab a sandwich here for lunch. I got a steak and buffalo sandwich with fries. Got my order quickly and all the waitresses were nice! The meal was well cooked and delicious! I got a small and the portions were big. It was definitely more heavy and comfort type of food. It was a good place to grab a bite to eat after traveling. Try it out!"

"Hands down one of the best spots for lunch that I’ve ever been too for sandwiches. The value is hard to beat. Always ordered the “South of the Border” with a side of fries. This is easily a spot I recommend going to in Ithaca that justifies the price."

Vegetarian & Vegan Archives
Gorgers, started by brothers Barton and Matthew Diamond, was formed with a desire to use high quality, fresh ingredients to produce an affordable, yet desirable dining option. Subs are served on either an Italian roll or grilled flatbread, both of which are made in house, daily. All of the sauces (some of which use herbs from the owners’ garden) are house-made, without preservatives or high fructose corn syrup.
Why Ithaca Should Be Part of Your Finger Lakes Getaway
Gorgers has likely fueled many a late-night cram session, but it would be a mistake to cast it off simply as college fare. The menu is surprisingly eclectic, featuring options like the Sweet Thai Chili chicken sandwich with grilled pineapple and onions, and the Shrimp Po’Boy. They are known for making vegan substitutions upon request, and the Vegan Banh Mi sandwich made with fried eggplant was truly a delight.
Welcome to Ithaca! A dining guide for new and longtime residents of Tompkins County
When you’re in a sandwich mood, we highly recommend the handmade subs on freshly baked bread at Gorgers, on West State Street near the Commons. Our favorites include the Banh Mi and Cuban, both made with their pulled pork, the Coconut Shrimp, and the Italian Beef, but they have great vegetarian and vegan options as well.
Good delis or sandwich shops? : ithaca
They make some pretty huge sandwiches that are great for about $8, specifically subs. Again, the aforementioned CTB could also be considered a sandwich shop. ShortStop on Seneca St. is a bit further off the commons but they're open 24 hours and have these little forms you fill out to build your own sandwich.

The 14 Best Kid-Friendly Gluten-Free Spots in Downtown
They mention gluten free options, but it is mostly turning the sub into a loaded salad. Most of the tables are set up outside, but there are a few spots inside to eat. Eating outside allows you to enjoy Ithaca’s unique downtown area.
