Reviews Summary

Hamsa is celebrated for its delicious and authentic Israeli cuisine, with many highlighting the flavorful hummus, tender skewers, and fresh ingredients. Diners also rave about the lively atmosphere and attentive service, often mentioning specific staff members who enhance the dining experience. While overwhelmingly positive, some reviews note minor issues with service speed or specific dish flavor profiles.

"We came to Hamsa to celebrate a graduation and chose the Yalla Yalla experience—best decision ever! The entire night was such a vibe.

The food was amazing, a must try is their award winning branzino! The atmosphere was lively, and the live belly dancing show with the drummer took everything to the next level. It truly felt like a celebration.

Huge shoutout to our head server Alex—he was absolutely fantastic! Attentive, friendly, and made sure our night was perfect. Highly recommend for any special occasion or if you’re just looking for a fun, unforgettable night out!"

"I recently visited Hamsa, an Israeli restaurant in Houston, and I have to say—it completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The space is stylish yet comfortable, and the bar area adds a fun and lively vibe without being too loud.

Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. Whether you’re familiar with Israeli cuisine or trying it for the first time, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.

Our server was friendly and attentive.
Hamsa is a great spot for both small gatherings and larger parties.

Overall, I highly recommend giving Hamsa a try. It’s a unique gem in Houston, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit."

"I've been to Hamsa three times and every time the food always hits. This time I finally took photos of the food we ordered. I realized that they change out a few menu items every year, but the quality of the items staying still remain delicious. The lamb hummus is so rich and pairs so well with pita bread, and the octopus is the most tender bite I've had at a restaurant. Ribeye skewers and chicken thigh skewers are equally as tender and flavorful. The cauliflower couscous was such a pleasant/refreshing surprise. Everything was so amazing and the amount we ordered was perfect for 4 people!"

12 of the best places for Mediterranean food in Houston

New-fashioned Israeli cuisine is front and center at this Rice Village stunner. That means you can dine on a vibrant mosaic of salatim (small side dishes): fiery carrot harissa, tomato and pepper matbucha, silky baba ganoush and a larger plate of the world's creamiest lamb hummus. As for the main stuff, come with friends so you don't have to choose between grilled branzino, lamb spare ribs, and skewers of beef tenderloin dripping in a za'atar and sumac spiced butter.

The Best Houston Patios for Outdoor Dining and Drinking

This relative newcomer to Rice Village serves what is hands-down the city’s best Israeli food. The restaurant and its bar counter are a ton of fun, but Hamsa also has a small patio out front that’s perfect for people-watching visitors of the trendy shopping complex. Go all out for lunch or dinner, or simply order a few salatim to share—hummus, baba ghanoush, labneh—and wash it down with some wine or a flight of arak, a distilled spirit made with anise.

The best Middle Eastern restaurants in Houston

Hamsa – Levantine – Easily the most stylish and ambitious place for the cooking of the Levant in Houston now, this builds on the success and popularity of the owners’ excellent Badolina Bakery next door. Serving what it describes as “modern Israeli cuisine,” the Middle Eastern food will be largely familiar to most Houston diners, but in a more wide-ranging fashion and plated more attractively. A decent array of wines, too.

Houston, Texas Food & Drink Guide: The Best Restaurants to Try in Houston

For the best of modern Israeli cuisine, but with a decidedly Texan flair, head to Hamsa, a new concept from Sof Hospitality, located right in Rice Village. The restaurant is helmed by Sash Kurgan and Yotam Dolev, who make the fluffiest, silkiest hummus and baba ganoush, with pita bread baked to order on-site. The 100 best restaurants in Houston in 2024

Salatim, a group of small salads and dips served with downy pita snatched from the wood-burning oven, sets the festive tone that permeates this striking Rice Village modern-Israeli restaurant. The silken lemon tahini and baba ghanoush are standouts. Honestly, we’d be fine making a meal of the salatim, perhaps alongside a spritz or a Down South, Hamsa’s riff on a Southside, at the comfortable bar.
