What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the authentic Viet-Cajun crawfish, often calling it the best they've ever had. The blend of Vietnamese and Cajun spices in the signature garlic butter sauce is a standout. While the seafood receives high praise, some reviews mention inconsistencies with appetizers or side dishes. Service can be a mixed bag, with some experiencing attentive staff and others encountering issues with menu knowledge or order accuracy.
"Loved the crawfish but wasn’t a fan of the appetizers (salt and pepper wings/calamari) that we got. I requested another side of the sauce for the crawfish and I’d highly recommend doing the same.
If you’re looking for a non-seafood item the shaken beef is fantastic. The egg fried rice is delicious and the beef is nicely cooked on the outside with the perfect chew on the inside."

"We've been coming to here for a while now, and it's always been amazing. The Viet-Cajun flavors are top-notch, and we usually leave happy and satisfied. This time, we ordered crawfish, oysters, and wings—everything was great except for one issue with our wings.
We ordered Cajun wings, which we've had multiple times before, but what we received was completely different—sweet, with a fish sauce flavor, and absolutely no Cajun seasoning. Mistakes happen, and we would have been fine if it was just an order mix-up. However, when we brought it up to our server, she insisted that these were the Cajun wings. That’s the frustrating part.
We’re not upset about the mix-up itself, but it’s disappointing when staff aren’t familiar with the menu items. Please take the time to educate your servers on what each dish should look and taste like. We love this place and want to keep coming back, but moments like this take away from an otherwise great experience."

"The Good:
- The crawfish were fantastic—fresh, plump, and meaty, with great flavor. Very satisfying!
- The seasoning and cooking style were on point.
The Bad:
- The oysters were disappointing—many shells had very little meat, and they weren’t as plump as expected.
- Service was just average—nothing particularly friendly or attentive, but not rude either."

A Guide to Houston's Best Restaurants
First I stopped in at Crawfish & Noodles, which is credited with kick-starting the region’s fusion trend, and dove into metal bowl of crawfish smothered in a fragrant spiced garlic and butter sauce, served with the requisite sides of boiled potatoes and corn on the cob. Another favorite is Crawfish & Beignets, which excels at those two things: crawfish, bathed in a sweet, citrusy Thai sauce and sautéed with white and green onions and oranges, and beignets, dusted with powdered sugar and served with generous helpings of honey and condensed milk.

Where To Eat In Houston's Asiatown
Of all the foods in Asiatown, Viet-Cajun crawfish is the only one that can claim the neighborhood as its birthplace. The hybrid cuisine took form in the late 2000s as Vietnamese immigrants in Louisiana began adapting Gulf Coast fish to the ethos of Southeast Asian seafood boils. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, many moved to Houston and began to tinker with the format, boiling the mudbugs in Cajun spices and then tossing them in a garlic-butter sauce.
