Thank you to everyone that recommended BrightStar Grill! I was very happy with my meal! The spicy cheese curds were so delicious and had just the right amount of heat 🌶️ & the potato wedges were full of flavor & crispy! The burger was also good, loved the cheesiness and the fact they put slaw on their burgers! 🍔 #ncfoodie #eatwithme #mtholly #burger #gastoncounty

Lunch at The Bright Star in Bessemer — an Alabama classic since 1907. Their Greek chicken is one of my go-to dishes, and I’ve had it more times than I can count. They’re also famous for snapper throats and their Greek-style beef tenderloin, making it a true foodie destination. No wonder this spot is a James Beard American Classic. As a Birmingham, AL, Realtor with Keller Williams Homewood, I’m alw...

Reviews Summary

Bright Star Restaurant is celebrated for its historic ambiance, friendly service, and classic Greek-influenced Southern cuisine. Diners rave about signature dishes like fried shrimp and 'snapper throats,' as well as generous portions. While many praise the food and experience, a few reviewers noted inconsistencies in food temperature and quality, with one mentioning high prices relative to portion size.

"This was my second time here, and it was better than the first. I ordered the boneless Short Ribs, which were fork tender and seasoned just right. The plate came with potatoes and choice of 2 sides. My server Vivian was on point with everything."

"We stopped in yesterday to eat lunch. Both my middle and my baby boy started their work careers at Bright Star! My baby son was the recent victim of a violent crime and they had been praying for his recovery.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the food is still heavenly divine along with the ambiance. We had a lovely server named Anna, and Mr. Nikki one of the owners came over to speak to me which is always a blessing!

Andreas the other owner and I exchanged a few words where he told me he was grateful Blesset was doing well. I can’t say enough about this place! Marlon is a longtime employee who just radiates love and respect for customers and it’s always clean and has a very homey feeling!

One can’t go wrong with the menu as they have the best of fish and crab claws plus soul food that’s cooked to perfection.

It really is the best restaurant this side of heaven! Lunch items are less expensive as the dinner because it is more of a superior type of meal for that time of day. Please take the time and treat yourself and your family and friends 💙"

The food was absolutely wonderful, promptly served and freshly prepared. The beautiful atmosphere is always clean and comfortable. You can never go wrong with the Bright Star. Anytime, any day!"

If I am not mistaken, the Bright Star and Nikki's (and talk about some good southern cooking... with a Med. flair. mmmmm). VJ's on the Runway at the airport is another great meat and three southern restaurant. As for Fishmarket......Love their Greek salad (especially the dressing) and they load on the feta if you ask really nice .
