Reviews Summary

Mud Hen Water is celebrated for its inventive and delicious fusion cuisine, particularly its brunch offerings and creative small plates that are perfect for sharing. Diners frequently praise the attentive service and unique flavor combinations. However, some reviews mention the restaurant can be quite noisy, and a few found certain dishes to be overpriced for the portion size.

"A local recommended the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint! Amazing fusion food! Really enjoyed every dish (so much so I forgot to take a photo of the meatballs until toward the end!)

We didn’t need to wait for a table, all staff members were super friendly. Jill served us and was perfectly attentive and checked in the right amount.

The cocktails were delish too!

Would definitely return!"

Josh Hemmett

"Delicious food served using a variety of recipes and ingredients from across multiple cultures and cuisines. A mixture of smaller tapas and larger plates, best served family style. Laid back atmosphere and reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes served."

Thomas Ford-Hutchinson

"What a wonderful and refreshing change from the 'usual' restaurants on Oahu.
As Europeans, we love creative cuisine and fusion kitchen - which we had been missing here in Honolulu so far - and luckily found it in 'Mud Hen Water'.

They serve lovely creative Asian combined with local style dishes, which are meant to be shared like Tapas. Every dish we ordered tasted wonderful.
We were having the Fried 'Ulu (which was replaced by a sweet potatoe that day), the Szechuan Lotus Root, Chicken Long Rice Croquettes and the Handcut Pasta and finished with the most amazing dessert: Kiawe Bean Bownie with Sesame Gelato....sooooo good.
The only thing we had been missing was a choice of non-alcoholic cocktails as we usually don't drink alcohol - and the cocktail menu sounded very promising.

Moreover, the service staff was very friendly and helpful.

We will definitely be back for more."

Mud Hen Water serves a modern Hawaiian menu for dinner, though brunch is where it really shines. That’s thanks to the airy, light-filled dining room, paved in reclaimed wood, and its patio decorated with colorful murals. Get some sourdough banana pancakes, pork sisig made with pig’s head, and fresh fish and luau, which consists of taro leaf cooked down in coconut milk until it’s almost the consistency of pudding.
