What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diamond Head Market & Grill is a beloved local institution praised for its delicious and affordable food, especially its famous scones and plate lunches. Diners appreciate the quality and value, making it a go-to spot for a quick meal or treat. However, some visitors have encountered rude customer service, which detracts from the otherwise positive experience.
"Believe the hype. The grill is fantastic. The market is fantastic. Went here pre and post diamond head. The Arnold Palmer is to die for especially but really everything. Don’t expect fancy service, just good food at a reasonable price."
Nicholas Feitel
"I love getting my lunch and dinner from here. Place your order at the grill counter outside, then walk in to the market where they have great salads, sandwiches and cakes and pastries. I love their ham sandwich, chocolate ganache cake and carrot cake but I am sure everything else is just as good. I tend to stick to my picks although I really should try the other items they have as well. From the grill, the garlic shrimp is excellent and same for the hamburger steak plate and loco Moco.
What else can I say….. it’s a really good place to grab a quick meal."

"Affordable, local bakery and take out grill. Their blueberry scones are delicious and more cake like, very moist. Also love their Okinawa sweet potato haupia pie. All the deserts are fantastic. It’s a must stop and worth the extra calories. We walked from our hotel 1.7 miles just to get there so we could burn calories while eating the tasty sweets.
We also tried the salmon salad, salmon burger , teriyaki chicken with side salad and rice. All very Delicious. Just make sure you allow for 20-30 mins for them to cook the food as it’s made to order and there are several orders during busy times. Pricing is very affordable for Waikīkī / Honolulu area. must stop to try their foods."

Dinner in Honolulu - where?
The prices at L'Uraku were reasonable and the food excellent - the restaurant is somewhat bright and light - not my usual preference for dining but in this case it worked. Diamond Head Grill had a more modern, sleek look and the food was also very good, although the service was just okay.
A Hidden Gem in Honolulus Chinatown for Delectable Baked Goods
I happened to have a Diamond Head Grill and Market/Bakery's blueberry cream cheese scone two nights prior, and damn - Bread House's version just knocks it out of the park!!!!. The scone is not too bready or heavy, crumbles just right, has large blueberries that pop with a sweetly mellow and tart flavor, a generous middle layer of cream cheese through the scones, and has just the slightest crunchy crust at the outer corners. It isn't too small, and not too large.
Where to Find the Best Desserts in Honolulu
It has a take-out restaurant with lots of local favorites, such as the loco moco and a teriyaki burger plate, as well as an indoor market with tons of freshly made, pre-packaged meals. For dessert, you pick from an array of delicious butter mochi, chocolate banana peanut-butter pie, Okinawan sweet-potato haupia squares, and blueberry cream-cheese scones and take it to go or sit down to eat at one of the picnic tables outside the building.” —Jo Seuk
