What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Alan Wong's Honolulu is praised for its exceptional dining experience, with perfectly executed and beautifully presented dishes that showcase innovative Hawaiian Regional Cuisine. Service is consistently noted as impeccable and attentive. While most diners rave about the quality and creativity, a few have found certain dishes to be average or have experienced minor service lapses during very long tasting menus.
"Good food and impressive service. They will provide a personalized and signed menu for customers celebrating birthday or anniversary here.
I tired their menu tasting, which costs $95 per person. It included an appetizer, 3 entrees and 1 dessert. I like the 3 entrees best, especially short rib.
We also exchanged one of our desserts to coconut icecream, but that one is not really impressive."

"My sister and I joined my best friend and his partner for a valentine's dinner here.
They have a special menu set for valentine's and the food, pictures I've added, were delicious. It cost $105 for the dinner and $155 to add wine pairing which was perfect.
The service by Mike was amazing - he's attentive, easy to talk to and funny.
There is valet parking so you don't have to fuss. However, it costs $7 😆 🙄"
Emma Kirk
"Average food. Not even comparable to Roy's which beats this hands down easily. Excellent service though. The lobster bisque was probably the best thing we had. The seafood dumplings were dry and flavorless. The beef rib dish was more like a pot roast, nothing special. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but again nothing wowed me about it. The chocolate cake was way too airy and just had a basic cocoa taste to it, nothing rich nor unique."

Alan Wong’s restaurant is a higher price point, but the creativity and complexity of his dishes and the professionalism of the staff make it a must for foodies. A longtime champion of local agriculture, Alan has been a forerunner of the Hawaiian regional-cuisine movement, which borrows from the many ethnic influences we have here — Native Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, and Korean. Dishes like the Keahole lobster tail with truffle black pepper sauce or Kauai porterhouse with roasted Hamakua mushrooms are no-brainers.

Any Suggestions for dinner in Honolulu? - Hawaii
We'll be in Oahu for 2 nights (actually 3 since we do not leave for the airport until 6:50pm the last night) and was planning to have dinner at Alan Wongs and Chef Mavros, both high end Hawaiian Regional Cuisine places. I'm actually not sure we will end up going to Chef Mavros as it seems even more expensive so I may cancel, but I'm really excited about Alan Wongs. This seems to be higher end than most of the recommendations in this thread, I guess.
