Kula Shave Ice is highly praised for its high-quality shave ice made with real fruit and natural ingredients, offering unique and refreshing flavors. While some find the prices slightly higher than competitors, most agree the taste and quality justify the cost. The friendly service and sustainable practices, like encouraging reusable bowls, add to the positive experience. Be prepared for potential lines, especially during peak times, as this popular spot is definitely worth the wait.
"Great location for shave ice. Made with real fruit juice. Sometimes a longer queue because it is pretty popular for a good reason. My wife had a mango and Lilikoi shave ice with condense milk. The staff is really good about dealing with food allergies."

"Kula Shave Ice offers delicious, high-quality shave ice, and we really enjoyed the flavors we tried—especially the Lilikoi Dreamsicle, which was refreshing and flavorful. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the texture was just right. However, the prices were a bit higher compared to competitors, which made it feel a little less of a great value. That said, if you don’t mind paying a bit extra for a premium treat, it’s definitely worth a visit!"

"Food: We got the Kula Rainbow which is with mango, strawberry and blueberry syrup on top and vanilla ice cream as the filling. The blueberry syrup is on the sweet side and not a big fan but the rest is fantastic! Their vanilla ice cream is made from scratch as you can see vanilla seeds in it and it tastes very creamy!
Service: common and friendly
Ambiance: outdoor seating only. The whole deco is colorful and vivid. Be careful with sticky tables and benches though."

Going to Hawaii? 10 Must-Eat Local Specialties
A truly great shave ice (like the one served at Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice on Maui) requires quite a bit more skill and care than pouring syrup over crushed ice for, say, a snow cone. The light, fluffy flakes of shaved ice absorb more of the flavoring than crushed ice does, and with the proper cuddling and patting motions the server uses to shape the dessert, the syrup should flow through the loosely woven ice, keeping every bite equally flavored. A poorly made shave ice is a sad sight, leaving the eater with wide swaths of unflavored ice.

Shave Ice – Shave ice or Hawaiian shave ice is an ice-based dessert made by shaving a block of ice. To be correct, it’s ‘Shave Ice’ not Shaved Ice!. While the product can resemble a snow cone, snow cones are made with crushed, rather than shaved, ice.
