What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Jackie Rey's Ohana Grill in Hilo offers a unique dining experience with its historic bank building ambiance and delicious, locally sourced cuisine. Reviewers praise the creative cocktails, standout dishes like the seafood trio and pork chop, and the attentive service. While generally highly rated, some find the menu a bit limited, and occasional slow service has been noted.
"Absolutely amazing place to stop in for a quick dinner. We ordered the Happy Hour ribs, with a Korean BBQ sauce that added a sweet and savory flavor to the meat. For dinner, we ordered a burger and the Seafood Trio. Every dish was delicious and burst with flavors including some we were familiar with and others, distinctly Hawaiian. Our waiter surprised us by bringing over an incredibly delicious cake as a gift for our honeymoon. The atmosphere, the food, the service was excellent!! Would highly recommend to travelers!"

"I had a fantastic dining experience at Jackie Rey’s Hilo, located in the historic part of Hilo and just a short distance from the waterfront! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance struck a wonderful balance between elegance and comfort, creating a refined dining atmosphere without any stuffiness. It is in an old bank and vault remains.
The cocktails were a highlight—creative and delicious, each one perfectly complementing our meal. I ordered the steak, which was incredible and perfectly prepared to my liking; it was tender and packed with flavor. The salads were also fantastic, fresh and vibrant, showcasing high-quality ingredients. The burgers that went by us looking amazing!
The quality of the food was exceptional, and I was pleasantly surprised by the great prices for such high standards. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our visit. Plus, street parking was easy to find.
I highly recommend Jackie Rey’s Hilo for anyone looking for a memorable meal in a beautiful setting!"

"Nice upscale dining in Hilo. The service was great, attentive and knowledgeable and very patient with us. Food was good but not the most memorable meal of our trip. My husband got the seafood plate and enjoyed it. The menu is limited, so if you like a broad selection it may not be for you. However, the choices available all sounded like good options. We made a reservation in advance and they seated us about ten minutes early when we arrived."

A place that is extremely popular, Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill is set a little way out from the main strip, perfect for visitors seeking a little time away from the seafront. The food here is fantastic; the fish is cooked perfectly and is paired with chargrilled vegetables and sweet purple potatoes, and the wasabi crusted calamari is out of this world. A laid back shack that gets extremely busy at the weekends, this is a top spot to enjoy some seafood in a convivial atmosphere.

The menu highlights locally sourced produce, fresh-caught fish, and hand-cut fillets, delicious options such as house-made lobster ravioli with seared Hawaiian prawns or the mushroom bowl with crispy local Oshiro tofu, yakisoba noodles and vegetables.
