Reviews Summary

Kono's Northshore is celebrated for its incredibly flavorful and generously portioned Kalua pork dishes and popular 'breakfast bombers.' While the casual, laid-back atmosphere and friendly service are frequently praised, some diners note that seating can be limited during peak times and that certain items, like sliders, might be smaller than expected.

"Ray is the owner/manager and was super respectful, jovial, courteous and genteel. Nice to meet you man!

The environment has plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The chairs are metal so bring a towel you can fold up if you have no butt to cushion your experience.

Food was great! Pricing is decent and it’s great because you are supporting local businesses. Especially after European colonialism and the heavy white presence here. Remember to respect the people and the culture. This isn’t just a paradise excursion. This is a land where the people have for generations established a kingdom and we are visitors against their will so show respect.

The music is calming and the location was easy to access.

The portions are kinda small. At least for me. I’m an average 6’4” 250 lbs and I EAT. So I probably wouldn’t come here if I was extremely hungry but the meal is a good lean meal to get your day started or if you just need to fill yourself to stave off hunger. Or if you’re a smaller person with a regular appetite. lol. Also I think the portions are for white people that serve as the majority of the people here so I’m not surprised the local businesses would make portions to serve the primary audience.

In any case an excellent restaurant. Remember to support the locals here. Not white colonialism."

"This is a great little spot to pick up some great food. I wish I would have gotten something other than the sliders. It’s not that they were bad, they were just tiny and I was left hungry after.

We went for lunch one day and breakfast the next. The burritos as bomb. They are huge, filling and oh so tasty. Highly recommend going if you’re looking for a nice spot to chill, eat some good with the local chickens and do some shopping."

Jeremy J

"Great spot for a casual, satisfying meal after a day exploring the North Shore! The pork is definitely the star here—tender, flavorful, and served generously. I had the Bombers and they lived up to the hype—loaded, filling, and packed with flavor. The portions are big, so come hungry.

The vibe is laid-back and the staff was friendly, even during the lunch rush. It’s not a huge space, so seating can be tight during peak times, and there was a bit of a wait. But the food came out quickly once we ordered.

Overall, a solid spot for classic Hawaiian-style comfort food. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Haleiwa!"

26 Best Places to Eat in Oahu, Hawaii (for First-Timers!)

Kono’s Northshore is a staple for a casual breakfast or brunch on Oahu. It’s one of the best places to eat in Oahu if you’re craving a breakfast burrito — the “breakfast bombers” (flour tortillas stuffed with eggs, potato, cheese, and meat, like chorizo or pork) are the most popular menu item. We stopped at Kono’s Northshore during our day trip to the North Shore (the original location!) after snorkeling at Shark’s Cove and let me tell you — a breakfast burrito hits different after a morning of snorkeling and being out in the sun!

For your noontime noshing, try Killer Tacos (Jack Johnson spottings here are common!), Konos, Grass Skirt Grill. or perhaps the most popular, Kua Aina Sandwhich—famous for its generously portioned and oh-so-ono ‘burgahs.’ For the vegetarians, try Beet Box Café—a natural and healthy café tucked into the back of local natural grocer, Celestial Foods. Evening sunsets on the North Shore are legendary, and taking in the view over dinner at Haleiwa Joe’s Seafood Grill is both locals’ and visitors’ first choice.
