Reviews Summary

Copley's on Palm Canyon offers a magical dining experience, praised for its romantic ambiance, especially the outdoor patio with mountain views, and its decadent dishes prepared by Chef Andrew Manion Copley. While many rave about the excellent food, attentive service, and unique cocktails, some diners have noted inconsistencies and occasional issues with food quality or service attentiveness.

"Our first visit to Copley’s was a pleasant surprise. We sat outside in January surrounded by heaters, plants and people. I did wish I had dressed a little warmer. Our server was efficient, helpful and even a little fun. The food was fantastic. Imagine my gluten-free delight when the Caesar Salad came with croutons made out of pineapple (« traces of tropical »). As the former home of Cary Grant, the inside is filled with different nooks and crannies. Overall a very special evening."

Tammy Brimner

"We are regular visitors to Palm Springs and look forward to new dining experiences each time. Copley’s has been one of those places we’ve look forward to. We visited last night, New Year’s Eve, and the experience fell flat, especially at $99 USD each …

Our reservation was for 9:30 pm and we were finally seated at about 10:00 pm. Not a big deal really, as long as the hostess is somewhat apologetic. My wife checked in at 9:25 pm and then when she went to inquire about our table to the same hostess, the hostess asked if my wife again if she was checking in. It made us feel overlooked.

The table was nice and everything folks say about the ambience at Copley’s is accurate - it’s magical!

I had the salmon, which was very good. My wife had the pork chop, half of which was fat. There was no choice in dessert, which seemed to be an afterthought. Overall, the food was average.

Mostly we noticed inconsistency in which servers treated guests. Some had smiles and conversation, others simply had dishes dumped in their table or dirty dishes whisked away. For us, there didn’t seem to be a genuine concern for how we felt about our meals and experience. For those reasons, I wouldn’t consider returning since there are so many other fantastic options on the Palm Springs strip."

Antonio Vendramin

"Wonderful place. The food is really really good. No matter what you choose it will be great. It's a great spot for a date night. And they got a good no-alcohol beer. I don't drink, but if you do they have other really good mixed drinks, my wife got one."

Some local favorites are: Mr. Lyons Steakhouse (swanky steak and those parker house rolls!); Workshop (very modern and very chic — but get a booth, or sit outside, so you don’t need to sit at the long communal table); Melvyn’s - a renovated and revivified rat-pack-era spot which has which is great for snazzy drinks accompanied by a pianist, followed by a fancy dinner in their dark, stylish and spacious dining room; Birba (great pizzas in a nice outdoor courtyard); mister parker’s (dim, dark and modern, Jonathan Adler style: reopened post-pandemic but now with a dressier dress code including jackets for men) and Norma’s (casual menu with a pretty outdoor terrace), both at the Parker Palm Springs; Copley’s on Palm Canyon (an old standard with a spacious courtyard and reliably good food and service); Jake’s, a casual spot with a comfortable patio, great food, and insane desserts; Cheeky’s (open for breakfast and lunch only); Le Vallauris (fancy traditional French cuisine — request the lovely outdoor courtyard). If you’re looking for an old-school New York Deli and a lean pastrami on rye, there’s Sherman’s.

Palm Springs spots make OpenTable's most romantic restaurants list

Copley’s, which serves up steaks and seafood in Cary Grant’s former 1940s estate and is entering its third decade this year, is the sole holdover from last year’s list. Interestingly, it infamously played host to one of the most explosive and drama-filled dustups in recent reality TV history when the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City dined there last year. But it seems being the site of the brouhaha seen ‘round the world only served to strengthen its romantic appeal.
