A trip to Europe early in his career solidified his calling and he has never looked back. My meals at Grove have always left me breathless. The colors on the plate come at you like a Jackson Pollock painting bursting with seasonal flavors and undeniably some of the most recognizable creations in the region.

The business had stayed in the VanderKooy family throughout its history until last year, when Essence Restaurant Group, which also owns The Green Well, Bistro Bella Vita and Grove, bought the breakfast and lunch spot.
