The Harvey house was an unexpected find while looking for the Route 66 Museum. I had never heard of them, but they were hotel and restaurants that were attached to train stations for train travelers. There are only two functioning Harvey houses left in the country, La Posada Hotel, Winslow, Arizona and El Tovar hotel, and Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon. This one now serves as an event spac...

Reviews Summary

Harvey House Cafe offers a historic dining experience within Bright Angel Lodge, praised for its generous portions and friendly service. While some find the food adequate and prices reasonable for the location, others note that the atmosphere can feel more like a cafeteria, and service can be inconsistent. The menu features a mix of classic diner fare and Southwestern-inspired dishes.

"For atmosphere, you can’t get much better than right by the Grand Canyon.
The food was pretty good and reasonably priced.
I got a half-sized southwest Caesar salad that was super good. I also got the fajita chicken quesadilla, and it was pretty big and I had to give half to my husband. It was pretty good, but the salad was better.
My husband loved the fish and chips!"

"Food portion was very generous - one portion could almost definitely be shared between two people. For breakfast, we had and really enjoyed the ‘country skillet’. The dinner items we had were also fine - the steak was good, but the others were okay.

The servers in the morning during breakfast were beyond lovely, full of positivity and helpfulness. Servers during dinner time were fine, slightly less visible for help if needed compared to the breakfast servers."

"Had a really solid meal at the Harvey House Café. The food was way better than expected for a tourist-heavy area, especially considering all the other spots near Bright Angel Lodge were fully booked and we just walked in hoping for the best.

Luckily, Tyler was at the host stand and took great care of us—super polite, welcoming, and got us seated quickly. That set the tone for a good experience.

We ordered a Canyon Smothered Burrito (hearty and packed with flavor), a big salad loaded with grilled chicken and steak (fresh and satisfying), and finished with a slice of cheesecake topped with berries and chocolate drizzle—rich and delicious.

Service overall was good. Not over-the-top, but smooth and friendly. Mikeya helped us pick dessert and was happy to make a few tweaks to our order without any fuss.

The place felt clean and comfortable, and things seemed to run pretty efficiently even during the rush.

If you're in the area and looking for a solid meal, this one's a safe bet."
