The spot is the brainchild of five Golden residents—Susan and Wes Ganter, Don and Jayme Martin, and Corby Felsher—who wanted to preserve the storied landmark while creating a gathering place for the community.

We didn't know what a food hall was at the time, but we knew we wanted the building to be there for the community, and we knew the community loved the building," says Susan Ganter, part of the ownership group that bought the former Golden Mill Feed Store building, which had originally been built as a grain mill in the 1860s.

Food Review: I’ve eaten at every restaurant at this food hall (except for the BBQ) and I have to say I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve eaten. For a restaurant that is a bit of a tourist trap, I was a little skeptical during my first visit. I was pleasantly surprised and have been back many times.

One of our favorite food and drink experiences in Golden is the Golden Mill. This fun and innovative food hall doubles as a serve-yourself brewery. When you arrive to Golden Mill, you put your credit card on file and they issue you a card to swipe at the food stalls and drink taps inside.

My first time visiting this restaurant was when they invited me for a hosted meal. I have been back over and over again on my own because I love it that much. The Golden Mill has five different restaurants inside and a tap wall of over 50+ drinks.

Three years and more than $6 million later, The Golden Mill has opened to the public. It’s a food hall with five vendors, a beer hall with more than 50 local brews, and a community center with art and music, plus plenty of other events on tap.
