What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Fancy garners significant praise for its creative and nuanced farm-to-table cuisine, particularly highlighting Chef Leila's innovative dishes like the Blackened Trout and Caesar salad with fish balls. While most reviews are glowing, a few diners noted that certain dishes, like a specific chocolate tart or a lunch salad, were not as impressive, and some experienced service issues during busy periods.
"My wife and I chose to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary with The Fancy. We’d recommend you do the same or any other special occasion!
First, the hostess called two days before to confirm reservations and personally wish us happy anniversary. We showed up 30 minutes early to our reservation, and we were able to be seated within an appropriate time.
Our server - impeccable. Wonderful conversation and timely service.
The food - a truly robust and remarkable approach to the farm-to-table concept. The snapper was wonderfully made with a tomato based sauce.
The drinks - an eclectic approach to common cocktails and witty twists on beach side fair.
After dinner, we were able to move upstairs to enjoy live music and a beach view in the roof top of the Hotel Lucine.
All in all, a great experience!"

"What a hidden gem. From the outside you can’t tell anything about either the hotel or the restaurant. But inside it is beautiful and elegant. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Visited for first time for dinner for my wife’s birthday. They were lovely to her and us. The smoked oyster tartine was one of the best appetizers ever. The snapper was delicious and cooked perfectly. Deserts - creme brûlée and strawberry rhubarb butter cake - were heavenly. A wonderful experience and we plan to go back."

"It’s official: I’m starting The Fancy Fan Club y’all.
We went to The Fancy at Hotel Lucine on a date night. We didn't know what to expect from it since it was new. We were blown away in the best of ways by the food, cocktails, and staff.
The food is creative, nuanced, thoughtful, intentional, and well balanced AF. We kept thinking at some point a dish was going to let us down and not sing on a plate, but the hits kept coming with unforgettable tastes and textures. One win after another. Chef Leila is truly a rising star... Hello James Beard, come check out The Fancy! She’s one saucy chef putting poetry on a plate.
Gage concocted us the most delightfully creative cocktails. He’s incredibly talented. Philip was on point all night making sure we were taken care of well. The hospitality was all around warm and welcoming. The Fancy mastered that elusive balance of being attentive yet respectful of your space and privacy while dining.
We can't wait to come back again and again because The Fancy is hands down the BEST restaurant in Galveston."
