We always start with the barbecued oysters with blue cheese dressing, a spicy and elegant appetizer, before looking over the “from the kettle menu” that features such delights as Big Daddy’s Gumbo --- a dark roux stew with fresh shrimp, oysters and crab meat served in a silver bucket. But you can’t go wrong with the Texas redfish Pontchartrain topped with shrimp, crawfish and mushrooms in a brown butter sauce. There are pastas and steaks on the menu as well, but since it’s island time, stick with the seafood choices.
