In fact, I would like to meet the genius that came up with this unexpectedly delightful flavor sensation and shake their hand.

And on the other side of Main Street, just across from the Visitor Center on Fourth Avenue North, the Franklin Mercantile Deli is known far and wide for its tomato basil soup.

Franklin, like the rest of the state of Tennessee, enjoys all four seasons despite being located in the South. The climate is consistently pleasant throughout the year. Residents never have to worry about being drenched or freezing because of the average annual precipitation of 53 inches and average annual snowfall of 4 inches.

You read that right – 12 South is commonly known as being Nashville’s most “Instagrammable” neighborhood. Well, it’s more of an Instagrammable road rather than a neighborhood…but what the exciting street lacks in size, it makes up for with amazing photo ops. I’ve never seen so many beautiful murals in one place before!

The atmosphere of the Main Street location is better, but you can't go wrong with the food at either one.

Then 55 South, owned by chef Jason McConnel, is the place to eat. He owns a few restaurants in Franklin and 55 South did not disappoint. They typically offer outdoor dining but since we ate here on Halloween their outdoor section was closed so we ordered our food to go.

If you are visiting Franklin, Tennessee make sure you venture down to the historic section of town. The area has been rejuvenated over the years and is thriving with shops and restaurants. One of the places that I checked out was 55 South.

And if you’ve got a taste for original combinations made from scratch, Frothy Monkey’s (125 5th Ave South) got you covered breakfast through dinner, along with craft beer and wine. The cheesy grits bowl, made with feta, is the way to go!

If you're looking for more options, 12 South is the place to be. Vinnie Louise, Finnleys, Emerson Grace, Draper James (owned by Reese Witherspoon), White's Mercantile, Stoney Clover, and more are all situated in this area.

South of Nashville, U.S. 31 will lead you through the rolling Tennessee hills to the historic town of Franklin where historical homes abound. You’ll pass by more than a dozen plantation homes on the way.
