Oxbow Bar & Grill is a relatively new restaurant, located inside the former Art of the Olympians museum building on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River in downtown Fort Myers. The restaurant is owned by Mainsail Lodging and Development, the same group that owns the Luminary Hotel & Co., an Autograph Collection property in the Marriott portfolio. Demand for reservations at Oxbow is high, with both locals and Luminary Hotel guests vying for a table.

Fort Myers has plenty of waterfront restaurants, but Oxbow actually does something with its prime real estate beyond slinging frozen piña coladas. You’re coming here for the view, sure, but also for the well-executed seafood-focused menu, with highlights like the blackened mahi sandwich and the charred octopus starter. It’s a great spot to bring out-of-towners who want the full Florida experience but still expect a decent wine list.

The new restaurant with the best buzz might be Oxbow Bar & Grill, which opened March 22 in downtown Fort Myers’ River District. The fifth food and beverage offering from the new Luminary Hotel & Co. has panoramic views of the Caloosahatchee River. The 150-seat casual eatery has a full bar and indoor and outdoor dining with a menu of fresh seafood, steaks, burgers and sandwiches.

Oxbow Bar & Grill, located on 1300 Hendry St in Fort Myers, offers casual waterfront dining along the Caloosahatchee River. Their Southern-inspired menu features oysters, steak, seafood, burgers, and more. With panoramic waterfront views and vibrant cocktails, it’s a delightful spot for lunch, dinner, or Sunday brunch.

Why it’s fun: Burntwood Tavern has several locations, but we love the Gulf Coast Town Center Mall location because they have a fun large playground just adjacent. This playground has a large climbing structure, slides, and swings. There is outdoor seating, so you can sit while watch older kids play.

With stunning views of the river, Oxbow Bar & Grill is a fantastic choice for a relaxing dinner. I always opt for the blackened grouper, which is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It’s the ideal spot for a sunset dinner or a casual evening with friends.

Wear your game-day jersey and come to Oxbow for all-day football and Thanksgiving specials including a smoked Cajun turkey breast po boy $10, craft drafts $5, and Wild Turkey cocktails $7. Oxbow is open from 11am – 8pm. Reservations are recommended.
