Reviews Summary
Mai-Kai offers a unique and immersive Polynesian experience with a captivating show and tropical drinks. While some find the food portions pricey, the overall atmosphere, entertainment, and service are highly praised, making it ideal for special occasions.
"Wowww!!! This is a very special place, as soon as you arrive you are transported to a far away island with the lush landscapes and fire torches. I love the valet cause you don’t have to worry about parking only $8 - you leave your car at entrance and then you can explore the gardens before dinner and the show. Very talented entire reservation team & wait staff very kind on my birthday, this is unique location, you can feel the history here. Love that they reopened better than ever! We ordered the volcano fire dessert, so cool! And the actual show is so thrilling, they have live musicians and dancers plus you get to learn some of the history and culture behind the dances. Very exciting environment, the food is very tasty both the ribs and beef tenderloin were outstanding. It’s pricey but it’s because you won’t find anything else like this anywhere!"

"I came here for my birthday celebration. The atmosphere was great, service was great. Our waitress was Lucy, she was wonderful. the food was pretty good. The show is the best part. A bit overpriced for the food portions in my opinion.
Overall great experience!"

"Amazing unique experience!! We have never been to any place or dining experience similiar to this. I was in awe at the drive in over the wooden bridge into the tropical oasis. The valets are fast and friendly. There is a large indoor and outdoor bar to wait at for your seating time for the show and a large beautiful waterfall garden.
We arrived at 430p for the 630p show and were immediately seated at 5p after being placed in the bar. Food was served and consumed before the show started. A little noise but we were able to have a low conversation with no issues. If you count the whole experience the price was worth it. Keep up a garden is not cheap. Food to cost value was questionable. I got the Hawaiian steak. The cook did their job and it was seasoned well. The piece of steak I got was fatty and tough to cut though. Our other order was ribs which were spot on amazing!!! Order the ribs. Service was first class excellence!! Great team!!
The show was first class. Best fire show I have seen yet!! The dancers were very into their work and took pride in it. Great family experience."

Mai-Kai Restaurant – The ultimate, over-the-top, so-tacky-that-it’s-fantastic Polynesian restaurant and revue has been packing ‘em in since 1956, with tiki bars, dancing girls (and guests!) in grass skirts, pupu platters, huge “boats” packed with colorful food combinations, native musicians, flaming fire pits (and flaming torches and tall candles), and colorful South Seas cuisine. What to Do in Fort Lauderdale (That Isn't the Beach)
It's touristy, cheesy, and overpriced—but it's also a lot of fun. The Mai-Kai opened in 1956 at the height of the Hawaiian-Tiki craze, poaching recipes and staff alike from the famous Don the Beachcomber's. There's a 50-minute island-themed floor show (which costs extra) and the food is nothing to hula about, but the real reason to go is the intensity of the kitsch: powerful rum cocktails in souvenir goblets, sarong-wrapped waitresses, and the thick atmosphere of dark wood and foliage that is now six decades old.
