What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pizzicletta is highly praised for its exceptional wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas with perfect crusts and unique flavors, along with its delightful house-made gelato. Diners appreciate the cozy ambiance and attentive service, with some even making long drives for a taste. However, a few reviews mention issues with soggy crusts on occasion or long wait times due to limited seating.
"Delish!! I absolutely loved the cozy yet energetic feel of this resturaunt. We went on a Friday night - so beware! It was PACKED. We had to wait for about half an hour outside because there wasn't any space (as it is a pretty tiny place), but it was totally worth it.
The wood-fired pizzas were great, thin and crispy and very flavorful. Pizza usually makes me feel pretty heavy and sick but I didn't feel that way at all with these! It's also neat to watch the workers make the pizzas as you sit there. And the gelato was very good!
I have a food allergy, and the workers were very helpful and careful, making sure that everything turned out OK.
Make sure you know which location you're going to, though. Pizzicletta at Dark Sky is a different location and has a different menu."

"Good stuff! We sat outside on the patio, which is the only way to go in summer in Flagstaff. The vibe was great, the service was wonderful and the pizza was extraordinary! We got a red sauce pizza and a white sauce pizza. Both were fantastic. They both had a twist to the classic that set them apart. Its thin crust pizza yet not crispy. Seating is a bit limited even though its a big place due to a really large table inside that takes up a lot of space."

"Pizzicletta is the go-to pizza spot in Flagstaff. My husband and I have literally driven up from Phoenix just for pizza, wine, and gelato then back home! We love to roadtrip, though. They probably have the best dough in Arizona."

Pizza aficionados are known to make the 2.5-hour drive from Phoenix for a taste of the extraordinary wood-fired pizza at Pizzicletta—and considering Phoenix is home to world-famous Pizzeria Bianco, that should be a hell of a compliment. Yet that’s a testament to the craft that geologist and self-taught pizza dough-tosser Caleb Schiff has brought to this humble Italian-inspired pizzeria, which has been slinging pies since 2011. The menu spans from a vegan-friendly pie to a bacon and shallot stunner, and is rounded-out by an assembly of standouts like marinated olives, prosciutto, and gelato.

Plates of paper-thin cured meats and olives and salads with chèvre and pine nuts are equally delicious. Don't skip out on the homemade gelato.

It’s elevated the whole scene.” Now, walking through downtown Flagstaff, you have to choose whether you want authentic Mexican, high-end steaks, wood-fired pizza, or true Italian-style pasta.
8 Italian Restaurants in Flagstaff, AZ You Don’t Want to Miss
Pizzicletta would honestly come in the number two spot if they specialize in anything other than pizza. But since they specialize in a pretty unique type of pizza I always thought they deserved a shout out at the top of the list so they come in the number three spot. First of all, they obviously have a great rating from their customers (four and a half stars with over 1000 reviews in!) but they also serve a special kind of pizza.

The Most Over & Underrated
In my honest opinion, Pizzicletta is by far the most overrated of all Flagstaff restaurants. Despite winning many awards, including being named one of the best pizza places in the US, I would have to say I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this downtown pizza establishment. I have seen people say that they would drive from Phoenix or the Grand Canyon (2 hours away) just to dine here!
