Reviews Summary

MartAnne's Burrito Palace is widely praised for its delicious and generously portioned Mexican food, especially the chilaquiles and oversized burritos, complemented by a vibrant and unique atmosphere. While many rave about the flavors and friendly service, some diners have noted inconsistencies in food quality and service, with occasional issues related to wait times and parking.

"This is hands down the best Mexican food we’ve ever eaten and we eat Mexican food a lot at home. The waitress said all the sauces are homemade, it tastes like it. Me and my husband got the same meal, sour cream chicken enchiladas. I got it with the green sauce, he got his with the red sauce. Both were amazing!!! The best food in flagstaff that we’ve had. The waitress was wonderful, very kind and down to earth. Would definitely put this place on your list if you’re in or coming to Flagstaff!"

Amy F.

"Amazing atmosphere, vintage kitsch. The menu selection is wide, and all of the selections above average in quality. Attentive service, reasonable prices. Will visit here every time I'm staying in or driving through Flagstaff."

Lagarto Byrne

"I’ve been here several times with friends but the food and service has not been consistent. Our last visit, we waited about 30 min for a table despite the restaurant having half the tables open. Fine, maybe they are short staffed but on the Saturday? Also, parking can be a nightmare here!

After getting seated, we waited another 15 min just for someone to greet us. By then, someone else was seated across from us and they got greeted almost immediately. Another table to the next of us had been waiting long than us and was getting frustrated while waiting to order food. I could see 2 servers aimlessly walking around behind the counter area and waiting only on the first couple tables near them.

Eventually, we were able to order. By then we were starving but unfortunately, free chips/salsa are not provided like most Mexican restaurants. The food is ok but looks better than it tastes. I’ve found it is much more salty than prior visits. I’ll be trying a different restaurant the next time I’m in the area."

Restaurants in Flagstaff

Don't let the name mislead you: this South-of-the-border Route 66 diner serves breakfast (all day), lunch, and dinner in a bright space decorated with Día de Los Muertos–inspired paintings. House specialties include a green chile pork enchilada topped with two eggs and J.B.'s Volcano: a mound of chilaquiles drenched in that same green chile pork, loaded with chorizo and crowned by an over-medium egg. Order a breakfast cocktail or coffee to complement your morning meal.

I only hit this place after a big morning on the mountain, because the portions are huge,” Krar says of this downtown institution on Historic Route 66. But if you’ve earned it, he recommends the chilaquiles done “Christmas style.” The dish is essentially scrambled eggs meets nachos, with seared tortillas topped with eggs, cheese, beans, and rice and finished with ladles of red and green chile.
