With artisanal coffee houses exploding all over the western world, McCafferty’s, A Coffee House Etc. is an independent coffee shop in the heart of Fairbanks. The walls of McCafferty’s are adorned with independent artworks, while local band Sand Castle provides live music twice a week. The coffee shop also provides a number of great small plates, such as freshly made sandwiches, snacks and cakes.

One unique aspect to McCafferty’s is that the owners provide weekly live music with the fun and smooth sound of their local band ‘Sandcastle.’ It is certainly a treat for their guests!

I know I mentioned it’s common for people to get drive thru coffee, but I love a sit down coffee shop when I have time. I was staying downtown and my husband and I were able to walk over to McCafferty’s and it was so worth it. We sat and read a book for a while and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.

First of all, let me say that the local coffee served at McCafferty's is a real treat. I appreciate supporting local businesses and this coffee did not disappoint. Additionally, the friendly staff made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in the door.

McCafferty’s, a Coffee House, etc. is a small cafe in downtown Fairbanks that has a homey feel, with mismatched furniture and live music, depending on when you go. They don’t have wifi, which is kind of weird for a coffee shop but the location is convenient.

The College Coffee House: Live entertainment, free WiFi, Italian cream soda, an eclectic menu that includes burritos, quiche, waffles and more make the College Coffee House the place to dine and dish in Fairbanks.
