One of the best Estes Park restaurants to stop in for a quick bite to eat in-between adventures, Scratch is a deli that takes the art of sandwich making very seriously despite their modest digs. They make their own bread in-house and offer a wide selection of toppings, in addition to specialty sandwiches, so you can decide to design a mouthwatering sammie yourself or kick back and know that the experts are in control of your (awesome) lunchtime decision.

It’s tucked away in a neighborhood near Bird and Jim Restaurant, Scratch Bakery and Deli, and Mary’s Lake Lodge. It’s just a few minutes drive to either Elkhorn Avenue in downtown Estes Park or the Beaver Meadow entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. As I drove into the neighborhood I saw a gaggle of turkeys and was hoping we’d see them throughout our stay.

Scratch Deli and Bakery is dedicated to serving fresh-baked goods, and this includes bread, pastries, meats, and cheeses. You also have the option of building your own sandwich and adding a side and beverage to your order.

For an amazing lunch, stop into Scratch Deli and Bakery for sandwiches made on freshly baked bread. Take your pick from their specialty sandwich menu or make your own from their wide range of meats, cheeses, and bread. For me, I tried the Pastrami sandwich made with house-cured pastrami topped with mustard and served on rye bread.

We decided to seize the opportunity by grabbing an amazing take-and-go sandwich from Scratch Deli & Bakery and driving to Brainard Lake Recreation Area. This popular hiking destination has been on our bucket list all summer. It’s located 50 minutes away from Estes Park.

We picked up sandwiches from Scratch in Estes Park, and stopped to let our crazy pup run around the dog park along Estes Lake. The views of the lake and mountains were stunning. There was also a walking path around the lake, which we took advantage of.

Scratch Deli & Bakery is known for its generously sized sandwiches, packed with fresh toppings and flavor. Guests also love their house-baked lemon bars and chocolate chip cookies. Simple, satisfying, and made fresh in Estes Park.

Scratch Deli and Baker was our go-to spot for packed lunches while in Estes Park. Most of their sandwiches are hot or toasted, but they were still great when we were out on the hill. You can grab a great breakfast here as well.

This restaurant makes all their food in-house, even their meats. Enjoy large portion sizes that can be shared. Visitors love the breakfast burritos, chicken salads, cinnamon rolls and BLTs.

Scratch Deli & Bakery is a favorite among locals and busy travelers. With a vast selection of sandwiches, dine in or take it to go and enjoy a picnic in the park.

On your way to the Park via the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station, stop by the Scratch Deli & Bakery on High Drive and add a sandwich and drink for lunch.
