What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
La Tapatia is a historic Mexican restaurant praised for its authentic flavors and welcoming staff, with many diners highlighting dishes like chile relleno and chimichangas. While most reviews are positive, some patrons have noted occasional issues with food consistency and service attentiveness, particularly during busy periods.
"I ordered combination plate, two chilé relleno with beans and rice (great beans and rice). My date had a beef chimichanga. The food was wonderful and we each had enough left for another meal. Our waiter was Ben, a nice young man who provided us with great customer service. This family business has been there for 85 years! It was my first time there and I will definitely be going back. El Tapatio is my new favorite restaurant."

"Forget Old Town! I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in San Diego county. Unfortunately it's not open as much as I hope. The food is authentic and the drinks are killer. Prices are very reasonable. If you're visiting San Diego it's worth the trip to go up to Escondido."
