JuJu (737 Ninth Street in The Shops at Erwin Mill #210; 919-286-3555) serves up plates with bold flavors, each prepared creatively with attention to tradition, fancifulness, and deliciousness. In addition to its extensive and delicious menu, Juju features hand-made cocktails, extensive Sake selections, and a well-chosen list of artisan wines and craft beers. Dine at the bar, in the booths, in the main dining room, or around the fire pit on the patio.

The openings of three Asian restaurants – Basan, Dashi and Juju – have provided an auspicious jumpstart to the new year. The eateries showcase how diverse Eastern foodways can be: Basan spotlights sushi and sashimi, often featuring fish from Carolina waters. Dashi specializes in springy ramen noodles in umami-rich broth, as well as Japanese pub food in its upstairs izakaya.

On the far side of the Duke East Campus, you’ll find Juju, a very popular Asian fusion and tapas bar that has a terrific menu of small plates and bites as well as a huge selection of sake. The food here is awesome, the Mongolian beef was my personal favorite. It’s worth the Uber ride from downtown or a nice stroll through the campus for a visit.

Juju Durham in Durham is a magical spot where cocktails and cuisine reign supreme. Located in the heart of downtown, visitors can sip on inventive libations while nibbling on shared plates as they take in the quirky decor. With a lively atmosphere and funky art, Juju Durham delivers a vibrant foodie experience that is not to be missed.

Vegetarians and vegans will also find plenty to love in Durham. Pure Vegan Cafe serves everything from vegan Indian fusion dishes to Southern comfort food to meat-free Chicago-style hot dogs. Pure Soul is another vegan option and the perfect place to grab a quick meatless BBQ sandwich and slaw or ‘shrimp’ po’boy hoagie.

This year brings several newcomers on board including Jack Tar Diner, M Kokko, Grub, Counting House, and the Unscripted Hotel, as well as Juju, Pompieri, and Parizade. Past Challenge winners Dos Perros and Guglhupf round out the list to fight to keep their titles in this friendly competition.

Juju (737 Ninth St, #210, 27705): In the heart of Ninth St, Juju ain’t no college eatery. This classy Asian tapas bar boasts an array of scrumptious small plates that make for an ideal sharing date situation. I highly recommend the beef short ribs or pork belly in any dish.

For another upscale option, Juju has plenty of gluten-free options, including dishes like fried rice, mongolian beef and others that are often not gluten-free when dining out. I would imagine that they use gluten-free soy sauce to make many of the dishes on the menu.

Last night in Durham, we tried some Spanish-Southern fusion. Let’s add a new twist to life with Asian-Southern fusion at Juju. This restaurant is definitely one of the unique things to Do in Durham NC. At Mateo we had sweet tea sangria, but at Juju we get…

With an impressive variety of flavorful dishes and quick service, this spot delivers a delightful dining experience every time!. Absolutely delicious and so many gluten free options. Food comes out so fast, you barely think it before it’s on your table.

Juju on Ninth Street has a surprisingly good variety of vegan options on its meat-heavy menu, and they are all full of flavor and satisfying. I could eat the Gado Gado every day!. But I can’t not mention Luna Rotisserie & Empanadas as well.

An energetic eatery, Juju Durham offers innovative Asian fusion cuisine. This spot is well-loved by locals, and for good reason!. The menu here has a wide variety of interesting and flavorful dishes inspired by favorites from across Asia.

Yes, Juju has a full menu of entrées, and we’re sure they’re great. But we’ve never made it past the Asian tapas—mushroom-and-cabbage dumplings, crab and shrimp cake, crispy brussels sprouts, chickpea chaat.
