The second brewpub to open since the prohibition, Carver’s Brewing Co. was founded by the two Carver brothers in 1988. We met a local friend in Durango at Carver Brewing Co, a popular downtown brewery restaurant known for upscale bar eats, burgers, and craft beer. They have a nice, friendly vibe and attentive waitstaff. We had heard the locals and people from our RV campground raving about Carver Brewing since we arrived in town, so we were glad to check it out.

The Carver Brothers’ brewery was the first one in the four corners region since prohibition and the second brewpub in the state of Colorado. Aside from their award-winning beer selection, the restaurant in Downtown Durango is wildly acclaimed. Fun fact: Carvers’ refillable growlers have kept 1.2 million bottles and cans out of the waste stream.

My order would be: Ska, BREW, Steamworks, Carver and then I haven't been to Animas. Start on the south end of town if you want the good stuff.
