In a sea of steak, seafood and Italian restaurants on Atlantic Avenue, family-owned Amar Mediterranean Bistro stands out for made-from-scratch dishes crafted from family recipes hailing from Lebanon. Made-to-order pita bread arrives hot from the wood-burning oven and must-order dishes are the creamy lamb hummus, fried cauliflower mingled with harissa tahini, almonds and raisins, and the mixed grill platter for two, which offers a great tasting of favorites like lamb chops and kebabs.

Amar Bistro is moving to the Bar 25 location on Federal Highway (25 SE 6th Ave) where it will offer a full bar, covered outdoor patio and additional seating. The new Amar Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar is scheduled to open in September 2024. Amar’s current location (522 E Atlantic Ave.) will reopen in November 2024 as Gesto, an artisanal pizza shop.

Everything was so delicious, we couldn’t decide on a favorite. Our server was friendly, knowledgable and patient with all of our questions. Having Celiac and being vegetarian makes dining out difficult but not at Amar.

They're located in a sit-down restaurant that combines an elegant restaurant with something a bit more rustic. From kebabs to hummus, they have it all. Also, they have a bakery as well.
