Swing through wooden doors and into a spacious dining room that re-creates an authentic Old West saloon, decked out with a wooden bar and furniture, mounted animal heads, fugitive wanted fliers, film posters, and other memorabilia. The traditional steak-house menu includes ribs, filet mignon, flat iron steak, along with crab cakes, salmon, pizzas, and pasta.

As with all of my visual hotel reviews, now it’s time for the photos to do the talking but one last little thing…if you find yourself in Death Valley don’t forget to look up at night!. Death Valley is one of only eight gold tier dark sky reserves in the US where you can see all the twinkling wonders of the sky, even the Milky Way. To sit outside on your patio, gazing up at the stars or watching as the moon illuminates the formations of Death Valley is reason enough to visit this beautifully barren part of the world.

The Oasis at Death Valley resort is home to two hotels: the luxurious and historic Inn at Death Valley, a rambling Mission-style structure that dates to 1927, and the family friendly Ranch at Death Valley, where the Last Kind Words Saloon brings alive the spirit of the Old West. And despite its challenging layout, you’re guaranteed to play the lowest round of your life at the resort’s Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley. It sits 214 feet/65 meters below sea level—the world’s lowest elevation golf course.

The Ranch’s renovations included a new “Mission-Style” Town Square along with a new restaurant, retail shops, ice cream shop and The Last Kind Words Saloon. At the time of this print, the Ranch is currently in construction adding 40 {80 units} new cottages to the property. What’s wonderful about the completed renovations is that they preserved the historical integrity of the property and managed to make the new additions look like they were original to the property.

Last Kind Words Saloon: On the grounds of the resort Oasis at Death Valley (formerly known as the Furnace Creek Lodge) it’s my favorite of all the places to eat in Death Valley. Sure you’ll feel like you’re dining on the set of an old-school Hollywood western but that’s part of the charm. The rest of the charm comes from a selection of grilled steaks and chops and a cocktail bar that knows how to make a good strong drink.

High-priced entrees feature steaks, prime rib, salmon and pasta, as well as reasonably priced salads that are big enough to share. The chili is something they are known for, located on the appetizer menu, so dig into this cheap(er) dish if you are pinching pennies. The kids’ menu is reasonable and offers the usual cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, butter noodles and grilled cheese, so your “beige” eater will be thrilled.

We let out a collective gasp walking into the stunning Last Kind Words Saloon; it felt like we had walked into a Western movie set. A swinging salon door opens to a room filled with antlers, wagon wheel chandeliers, and walls adorned with fun western paraphernalia. The small yet curated menu includes delicious options such as pesto pasta and BBQ ribs.

Located just off the town square, the beloved and authentic The Last Kind Words Saloon, which still has swinging doors straight out of an old Western movie, is one of the crown jewels of the revitalization efforts at the property. It is a testimony to the days of a bygone era and brings an authentic Old West atmosphere to Death Valley.

Our favorite place was the Last Kind Words Saloon in Furnace Creek, which is open for all meals of the day. To give you an idea of the prices, a salmon plate (yeah I know, it traveled a long way) is $20, hamburgers are $15. The buffet meals at the Saloon is not great value for kids unless they like traditional BBQ type foods.

You’ll quickly learn that dining options are very limited at Death Valley. Many visitors opt to just pack a picnic lunch into the park, but after a long day of hiking, you’re going to want a hearty meal for dinner. The Last Kind Words Saloon is located at The Ranch at Death Valley just outside the entrance to the park.

Last Kind Words Saloon has been completely updated to bring the old west alive. Hang out at the bar and enjoy local draught beers or choose from a large selection of wines and whiskeys. If you are hungry, the menu includes everything from a 36-ounce tomahawk ribeye to wild Alaskan salmon to featured game of the day.

The Last Kind Words Saloon – this fun ‘bar’ serves up food to people of all ages (plenty of families frequent this establishment) as there are a number of dining tables in addition to the bar seating. Often busy in the evening as one of the few places that serve dinner here. Their Badwater Ale is a crowd favorite.

As the sun sets over Telescope Peak, return to The Ranch for a Wild West feast and drinks at the new The Last Kind Words Saloon, a throwback to a bygone era decorated with movie posters, “Wanted!. ” fliers touting the misdeeds of outlaws, antique firearms, and taxidermied game animals.

The Wild West-themed Last Kind Words Saloon was part of the 2018 Ranch revitalization. Check out antique firearms, wanted posters, taxidermy, and posters for movies shot in the area while you wait for steaks, ribs, pasta, whiskey, and key lime pie to be served.

They have appetizers such as potato skins, grilled flatbread, chicken wings, and a meat and cheese board. They also have entrees like ribeyes, chicken, fish, burgers, amazing desserts, and plenty of drinks. This place lies in midst of The Ranch at Death Valley.

Hang out by The Inn’s landmark spring-fed pool, which maintains a steady temperature in the mid-80s, and enjoy the serene setting as you dine on sandwiches, crudité, and cheeseboards at the Inn Pool Café in a beautiful cabana with spectacular views.

After a long day in the park, back at Furnace Creek a stop at the Last Kind Words Saloon, then take a dip in the ranch's pool before heading out for a meal at the Inn at Death Valley Dining Room (reservations required).

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the Inn's restaurant, The Last Kind Words Saloon. After breakfast, head to the visitor center to get oriented and pick up some maps and information about the park.
