After just returning from Nepal where I fell in love with the food and took a momo cooking class, I was excited when someone told me about this authentic Nepalese momo stand in the North Market. I had no idea how I could possibly eat one more thing before heading back to Nashville, but I was determined. I headed over to find Momo Ghar where I grabbed a helping of aloo (potato) momos, sat down at the counter, and ate them while having a lovely conversation with them about Nepal.

Originally based out of Saraga International Market, Momo Ghar has since moved their operations to the bustling North Market Downtown to sell their infamous Himalayan dumplings to a more central eater. They recently released new mini momo, which is your favorite dumpling, just bite-sized and with more in an order. These will cost you $12.95 for an order of 10, but you can split your order into two momo for a dollar more if you just can’t decide on one.

Food snobs shouldn’t be put off by the Guy Fieri endorsement — this place is straight-up fantastic, and a perfect example of how curious foodies and Columbus’ growing immigrant populations mix and mingle at the North Market.

Momo Ghar is a tiny Nepalese dumpling restaurant next to the seafood counter inside Saraga International Supermarket. It's no more than two tables and a tiny counter facing the kitchen. Nevertheless, it’s won accolades from Food & Wine, been visited by Guy Fieri, and is wildly popular.

It would be irresponsible, nay, criminal for me to curate a list of my starting five dumpling spots and not kick it off with nationally-revered Momo Ghar. As Food & Wine so affectionately wrote, “Once you try this food, you will never have any problem finding your way back here.
