What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Meshikou Ramen is celebrated for its diverse and flavorful ramen, especially its chicken dishes, and crispy Karaage. The cozy atmosphere and energetic music add to the appeal. While many praise the food quality and speed of service once seated, some reviews mention long waits during peak hours and occasional service issues.
"The food here is always amazing, fast, freash and fairly priced. The staff are friendly and attentive. The music is always on point making the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. Couldn't recommend this place more. The cucumber water was a first for me but so refreshing especially in this got summer we've been having. These are just my left overs and still looks to die for despite me eating the egg and other toppings."

"It's a large menu but you can't go wrong with their chicken. Just ask the server for suggestions and you will be fine. the broth is good but not the best in town. Service is excellent. I will be back for the chicken. They will give you cucumber water to help cool your mouth after eating spicy. It was perfect."

"Meshikou is easily the #1 ramen spot I’ve been to anywhere. Their flavor is always on point. And the music playlist? Pop punk and emo music every time!
Anywho, I ordered the Curry Ramen as I wanted to try something new. Pretty much their Sheo Pitan ramen but with lite curry flavor. GOOD! My wife got the normal Sheo Pitan ramen. Also so delicious! The pork Belly or Tenderloin option it comes with, can’t go wrong with either.
We ALWAYS get an order of the Karaage Chicken as well. The breading is fried to perfection, and the red sauce it comes with tastes so good! Their hot tea is also a great drink to add.
Highly, highly recommend this spot! Enjoy the vibes and even better food!"

Six Top Ramen Picks in Columbus and What is Tare?
Its rich and silky chicken broth (enhanced with soy sauce) provides the sustenance we crave in colder months. And its colors showcase a turn of season, with the green of thinly sliced scallions giving way to the deep purple of kikurage (wood ear) mushrooms in a sea of brown. These rich umami flavors are balanced with the cool tang of bamboo shoots that serve as a lingering memory of summer.

From the rich and silky Paitan to a lighter, subtler Chintan, and even vegetable options. Ranking third in the ColumBEST 2024 for Best Ramen, every choice here is a hit. My go-to ramen is the Fireball Miso Ramen, a spicy delight of chicken chintan broth, miso paste, and spicy garlic paste, with kikurage mushrooms, corn, white scallions, marinated soft-boiled egg, and pork belly.

Excerpt from the full Meshikou post: “The Mala is a Silky Paitan Broth with an infusion of their house sichuan tare. Tare is an essential ingredient in ramen and is the primary delivery system of the salt and umami in the broth. The sichuan base brings a kick along with it, but with just the noodles, I wasn’t picking up on much of it.
