Reviews Summary

DiPrato's is celebrated for its unique blend of Italian deli and Southern comfort food, with many praising its signature pimento cheese and hearty sandwiches. Brunch is a popular draw, offering creative twists on classics. While the food and friendly service generally receive high marks, some diners note issues with table size, noise levels, and occasional ordering mix-ups, particularly over the phone.

"I chose Diprato’ as my first restaurant to eat at in Columbia and I am glad I did. Although it was crowded, there was no wait on a Sunday afternoon at 1 PM. We had the tuna and chicken salad sampler with balsamic dressing and were very pleased. It looked like they had a lot of wonderful brunch foods on their menu and I hope to return if I am in Columbia again."

"We visited on a Saturday around 1pm. Regular and Brunch menu were available. We had the Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef Hash, Meatball Sub, and Kid’s Grilled Cheese and a cup of tomato soup. The server was very kind and brought my daughter a slice of cake for her birthday. The food was good! While there were deli selections available, my NY Italian chef husband was a little bummed that it didn’t really seem like a deli that he would expect. 😂 For the size of the restaurant, owners may want to consider more restrooms if you expand in the future. Also, the tabletops are a little on the small side and very close together. Our plates were partially hanging off the table. Overall, a great spot for brunch!"

"A delightful corner market full of flavorful dishes and a unique menu. We tried a few of their menu items including fresh deli and desserts and they do not disappoint. Their homemade pita chips are always a favorite. The kids chicken fingers were a little disappointing and overdone but otherwise no complaints."

7 Fun Things to Do in Columbia South Carolina

The large selection of brunch items includes classics like banana pecan and chocolate chip pancakes, along with breakfast paninis and homemade pastries. Try the Eggs Charleston, a southern version of eggs benedict with crab cakes and poached eggs, along with a side of Adluh grits (Adluh is a historic local flour mill that has been in operation since 1900). Of course, since you are in the south, it's a good idea to grab a pimento cheese sandwich for later!

Another enterprise from the owners of Dianne's on Devine, this gourmet sandwich shop is a step above customary lunch fare. It's a bit off the usual tourist's radar, which is a good thing because the line-ups at lunch are above average (although they do move quickly). The signature sandwiches are downright fantastic: a triple-decker reuben, an oyster po' boy, grilled portabella with fresh spinach and pesto mayo, Italian hoagies, and more.

The neighborhood vibe at Di Prato’s may be inviting, but it’s their tantalizing pimento cheese offerings that have put them on the culinary map. Creamy and tangy, these inspired spreads are as dreamy slathered on a house-made pita chip as they are dolloped on a burger. While customers can take a purist approach to pimento cheese here, there’s an overwhelming number who choose to go rogue with the Bacon Gouda Pimento Cheese.

Now, for lunches, No Name Deli(cash only) on Elmwood is always a favorite- nothing fancy, just good and big portions, Henry's for burgers, Dano's for pizza, Southern Belly for bbq sandwiches(Get the django, trust me), Flying saucer for beer selection, Bourbon may still have a beer, burger and shot of Bullett for $10 for lunch, DiPratos is a little higher, but has great sandwiches.
