Reviews Summary

Rooster's Cafe is a beloved spot for hearty, country-style breakfasts and lunches, with many praising its generous portions, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere. While most reviews highlight delicious homemade items like biscuits and gravy, some diners have experienced inconsistencies in food quality and preparation, leading to occasional disappointment with specific dishes. Despite these mixed reviews on certain items, the overall sentiment leans positive, especially for those seeking comforting and filling meals.

"This is one cool spot! Breakfast was delicious, they have green chile! Love their kids menu and atmosphere. I would totally come back for dinner. Their biscuits are fluffy and delicious."

"My husband had pancakes and they were so tough he could not cut them with his fork. My meal was fine. Our server was good. Everything was a bit slow."

"We enjoyed this place so much, we ended up eating there twice! Judging by the line of people patiently waiting for the place to open at 7:00 for breakfast (wish they opened at 6:00, but that's just me), we knew we'd found a winner.

The doors were opened in a timely manner and we were greeted promptly by pleasant, friendly young women, who ended up being our servers as well. Coffee and water arrived quickly, which we expect at a sit-down restaurant, but the turnaround on our food order bordered on a world's record! Both mornings, our food arrived no later than 10 minutes after we ordered, which was very much appreciated because we came to Cody for work and were hungry! The first morning, I ordered the country Benedict, which consisted of their delicious, moist house-made biscuits, topped with sausage patties, sunny-side up eggs and country gravy. Potatoes come with as well, but I found those to be slightly oily. The portions were so generous I ended up taking a to-go box. The next morning, I had the pork green Chile omelet. That one I polished off no problem, it was SO good! The Chile Verde tasted home-made.

The restaurant itself looks quite new with a well-kept lawn and flower beds outside. The interior dining areas were spotlessly clean. I particularly liked that they put the napkins in a dispenser on the tables so you could take as many as you needed. The decor was typical Western kitsch - hey, it's Cody, WY, the rodeo capitol of the state! - with cowhide upholstery on the booth seats. They even had a replica of an old stagecoach in one of the dining areas. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a pic of that.

Prices were OK, about what you'd expect in a tourist town. And like I said, it would have been nice if they had opened earlier, but 7:00 am seems to be the standard opening time for establishments that serve breakfast. But if you're looking for a good place for breakfast or lunch, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rooster's Cafe. Next time we visit Cody, we'd definitely go back."

The Biscuits & Gravy looked like vomit and it may as well have tasted like it too. Potatoes were hard as rocks. The egg was actually okay, but not the reason I ordered the dish.
