Fahrenheit has been around for two decades, and it’s a great place for a fancy meal paid by someone else’s money (i.e. your date, parents, or boss). The restaurant recently moved into a Public Square building with an indoor/outdoor rooftop space that has a rare 365-degree view of the city. The food skews swanky to match the crowd of sports jackets and sequin party dresses—start off with the sweet miso eggplant lettuce cups and go for the perfectly-seared wagyu short rib with wild mushrooms.

Michael’s go-to after-hours snack is Fahrenheit’s beef summer roll with ginger-ponzu dipping sauce. “It’s great late at night because it has a fattiness, but it’s also very light,” he says. The place serves other late-night fare, too, like pizza and nachos — and it’s just a short walk from Michael’s restaurant Lolita.

Try this: One special dish that earned its keep from the original restaurant menu also embodies Whalen’s fresh takes on traditional favorites with an Asian influence: the wagyu short rib ($45), which is served nestled alongside teriyaki lo mein, roasted wild mushrooms, baby bok choy, apple syrup and toasted sesame seeds.

Established over 15 years ago, Fahrenheit has been a long-time go-to spot for romantic dinners with an inventive menu of classic and contemporary American dishes. Also expected to debut downtown in 2022 is Fahrenheit, which will be reimagined in a new location. Chef and owner Rocco Whalen is relocating his Tremont mainstay to the old John Q’s Steakhouse spot on Public Square. Expect the same great food but in an exciting new package, this one with more space and a rooftop deck.

While primarily known for its contemporary American cuisine, Fahrenheit in Tremont offers a delectable selection of Italian-inspired dishes that should not be missed. Try the “Lobster Fettuccine” with a delicate saffron cream sauce or the “Braised Short Rib Gnocchi” for a hearty and flavorful meal.
