"I needed breakfast and wanted something different. This place was not far from the hotel and came well recommended.
I was greeted warmly and led to a nice table. The waitress stopped by quickly and also had a friendly greeting. The breakfast menu was wonderful, but my eye went to the Cuban sandwich, which came with warm plantain chips It was delicious 😋
They have a nice selection of hot sauces. I tried a few and they did not disappoint.
Friendly folks, good service and tasty food. I will visit again."

The 9 Best Breakfast & Brunch Spots in Charlottesville, Virginia
This Miami-style restaurant often flies under the radar, but don’t let the lack of pretense fool you. Guajiros Miami Eatery is an unassuming Latin American restaurant known for making the best Cubans in Charlottesville– but it’s also a great place to get a hearty Latin-inspired breakfast in the city. See, for example, their fantastic Cuban toast– a distant, buttery cousin of avocado toast served with cucumbers, cream cheese, dill, house pickles, and red pepper flakes.
Best Brunch in Charlottesville
If you’re craving a little Cuban spice, we recommend Guajiros for a zesty and casual brunch get-together. Hovering over the train tracks beside Drewary Brown Bridge on West Main Street, Guajiros is a worthy successor to the hallowed space of several extinct hot spots (who remembers The Cotton Exchange or L’etoile?). A compact entry places you at the “Miami” coffee bar where you place your order from a menu of a dozen plus breakfast and lunch items.
A Taste of Charlottesville: The Best Local Restaurants
Guajiros Miami Eatery is a standout among Charlottesville locals. The family who runs this business focuses on bringing a modern twist to the beloved meals they grew up eating in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Miami. The ropa vieja is a soulful dish that transports you straight to Havana, and their café con leche is like a little cup of sunshine.
My Fave Casual Sit Down Restaurants in Charlottesville, VA
I talked about Guajiros in an earlier blog post and I still maintain it’s a fabulous spot to visit here in Charlottesville. Close to the University of Virginia, Guajiros is located on West Main Street but the decor makes you feel like you are in the warm Florida sunshine. The food quickly does the same.
Where to Eat in Charlottesville
A taste of Miami in the middle of Virginia probably sounds odd, but Guajiros is a favorite restaurant around town. This family owned and operated restaurant brings the flavors of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Miami. I recommend their SoBe Avocado Toast – it takes the dish to a new level.
