The Rosa Review: Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria If you’re looking for an affordable lunch spot in Charlotte, I recently stopped by Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria and gave their menu a try. Here’s my honest take on the experience: CAFETERÍA Special For just $10, you can grab a lunch plate with 1 entrée and 2 sides from their hot bar. I went with the vegetable of the day, black beans, and chic...

Reviews Summary

Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria is highly praised for its authentic and flavorful Cuban and Peruvian cuisine, with many diners raving about the depth of flavors and presentation. The vibrant atmosphere and warm, attentive service contribute to a fantastic dining experience. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some guests note potential parking challenges.

"I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this place! First visit and the food was top notch while the service was outstanding. Kim immediately gave us recommendations for a good combination of plates to share and we loved every single bite. The Cuban fried rice was my absolute favorite with plenty to share and eat the next day. We had a cocktail from the May features and I’m just sad it won’t be there next month. The Cuatro Smash needs a permanent spot on the menu."

Hazel Schifferle

"We had an amazing dining experience here. The food was absolutely delicious, showcasing authentic Peruvian flavors with every bite, a true taste of Peru.

The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere added to the vibrant, welcoming vibe. Don’t miss the ceviche!

If you’re craving bold, expertly prepared Peruvian cuisine, this is the place. My family and I love it. We’ll definitely be back!"

Mari Garcia

"Finally after couple of tries, got to visit this place on a summer Sunday and it was worth it. The mixed ceviche(shrimp & white fish) was one of the best in Charlotte. Equally good were the Shrimp Chaufa(Peruvian fried rice) & Tallerin(Noodles). All the ingredients were fresh and you can taste the distinct flavors. Will definitely come back to try some of the other dishes. It’s a small place with limited parking space. So plan accordingly. Service is good."

Calle Sol is as dependable as a 1998 Toyota Camry—it’s the restaurant we turn to whenever we want a guaranteed excellent lunch or dinner. Start things off with any ceviche, then go for the vaca frita that’s fried on a griddle with garlic, onions, and lime juice (the braised beef paired with the crisp created by the griddle is a texture and flavor combo we can’t get out of our brains). For lunch, go with a Tampa- or Miami-style Cuban sandwich with a side of fried sweet plantains.
