Reviews Summary

The Restaurant at Zero George garners high praise for its innovative tasting menus, sophisticated ambiance, and exceptional service, making it a top choice for special occasions. While many rave about the culinary artistry and attentive staff, a few diners have found certain dishes to be less successful or overpriced, suggesting occasional inconsistencies.

"My wife and I had the pleasure of celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary at The Restaurant at Zero George, and it was truly a magical evening. From the moment we arrived, the setting felt intimate and special, the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to savor every detail of the experience.

Our server, Ray, was outstanding—professional, attentive, and warm. He guided us seamlessly through the evening, striking the perfect balance of attentiveness without ever being intrusive. His thoughtful service elevated the experience and made us feel genuinely celebrated on our special night.

The tasting menu itself was a work of art. Each course was beautifully presented and showcased an incredible blend of flavors, textures, and creativity. It was clear that every dish required an exceptional level of skill and precision. We were also touched that the chef provided us with a signed copy of the evening’s menu—such a thoughtful detail that added to the magic of the night.

We are deeply grateful to the chef and his team for giving us the opportunity to experience their culinary artistry. Zero George is more than dinner—it is an unforgettable journey of food and hospitality."

"If I’m being honest, Zero George did not live up to several standards. The first thing we got was the caviar service. While it was good, it was far from the best presentation of caviar and accoutrements we’ve ever gotten, considering the price.

Next came the bubbles and bites pairing. This was good, but it didn’t seem like there was much attention given to pairing the wines with a corresponding bite. The Wagyu ‘cigar’ was probably the best bite of our meal, but the ponzu egg and the foie gras seemed lost against the wines.

We immediately followed this with the deviled eggs. While they were solid and the preparer was not shy with the caviar, they were surpassed by other deviled eggs we had tasted earlier in the day.

We closed our meal with the Wagyu truffle burger. We were told going in that this was a high point of the menu, which likely contributed to our disappointment. To be perfectly frank, it was a salt bomb. The burger and toppings were decent, but we’ve had the sliders at one of Zero George’s sister properties at a fifth of the price, and I’d take those over the burger any day.

Overall, we were underwhelmed. Considering our experience with another Easton Porter property, this was a bit concerning. I get that people can have an off day, but for what we paid for our meal, multiple misses like this shouldn’t happen."

Jason Harvey

"We celebrated my 30th birthday here and had an incredible experience. The vegetarian menu was exquisite. Hands down the best dining experience I’ve had to date!"

Charleston's Most Romantic Restaurants for Valentine's Day

Hands down my favorite restaurant for any occasion in Charleston (and possible the world), Zero George is the pinnacle of romance in my opinion. When the weather is nice, there’s nothing I love more than dining al fresco in their courtyard, which feels like a secret hideaway right in the middle of the city. Chef Vinson is a wizard in the kitchen (seriously, I think he graduated from Hogwarts’ Culinary program), and everything I’ve ever eaten there has blown me away.

The Best Places to Eat in Charleston — Restaurants and More

In my opinion, nowhere is Charleston's culinary charge into the 21st century more celebrated than at the small but well-formed kitchen known as Zero Restaurant & Bar (part of the Zero George Hotel). It's designed with high attention to detail and is somewhat of a culinary theater for intrepid diners. Most tables sit in the cozy, contemporary dining room, but if the weather allows, I recommend the charmingly-lit courtyard.
