When it opened The Daily a while back, the spot quickly gained a local following. This place has some great coffee from Stumptown, cold juices, to-go items, growler fills, and hell, even last-minute gifts (it has a well-curated selection of cookbooks and local items). But at the end of the day, it’s the coffee that keeps people coming back...

The “Summer-ish” salad features lettuce from Vertical Roots, Cherokee heirloom tomatoes, roasted rainbow carrots seasoned with aleppo pepper, sumac-chive yogurt dressing, za’atar pita crumble, benne seeds and The Daily’s signature whipped feta.

Of course, Charleston's location near the ocean makes it a great spot for fresh seafood, and restaurants like Gillie's Seafood, Nana's Seafood & Soul Uptown and 167 Raw – an oyster bar that's popular for its oyster selection and lobster rolls – will deliver. It’s my go to for a good cup of coffee, some breakfast and great conversation. It can get fairly packed and occasionally there may even be a line out the door. Just be a little patient because it moves fairly quickly and is definitely worth the wait.

Located on Upper King, the Daily is a bit out of the way for a cafe in downtown Charleston, but it’s worth the trek. The Daily has a more full breakfast menu and amazing seasonal drinks. The whipped feta toast with honey is literally to-die-for.

The Daily has my all time favorite pastry, the pistachio rose morning bun. Get there early, or it will be sold out. They also have incredible whipped feta toast with fermented honey that’s an absolute must, and the salads they made are amazing.

They have wraps, bowls, burritos, smoothies, and pastries you can enjoy. And if a basic ol’ oat milk latte isn’t your vibe, you can try one of their specialty drinks. Try an ube milk tea, black sesame latte, and whipped coconut cold brew—YUM.

The Daily is on Upper King and has excellent breakfast burritos, smoothies, etc. Sorelle is located on Broad Street and brings all the romance of an Italian coffee bar to South Carolina. I love Baguette Magic (on James Island or downtown!).

The Daily is our go-to for gourmet Onyx Coffee, healthy smoothies, fancy toasts and nourishing grab-and-go provisions. This beloved spot by locals and visitors alike has two convenient downtown locations on King Street and Morrison Drive.

Femi: There's so much good coffee in town; you'll probably catch me in the courtyard at Kudu Coffee & Craft Beer or sitting at The Daily. If I'm cruising by the historic district, it's hard to resist a visit to Second State Coffee.

Another dish that was perfected in the South but came from elsewhere is fried chicken. Its origins can be traced back to Scotland (you can also find it in Asian cuisine). Yet it’s in the South where fried chicken is a staple.

The Daily is another one of my go-to coffee spots in downtown Charleston. The coffee is delicious, but the FOOD is what makes it ultra-special. Go for breakfast or for lunch – I love their mediterranean-inspired menu.

The Daily: We came for breakfast our first Sunday morning for avocado toast and biscuit sandwiches. There was a line to order but it moved quickly. It’s a cute spot with indoor and (covered) outdoor seating.
