Grace & Grit is a Mount Pleasant gem located just a short drive from the heart of downtown Charleston. This Lowcountry eatery's capacity is 50 guests across its two private dining spaces for evening events (The Harbor Room and the Camellia Room). With a menu that can be altered to best fit the needs and size of your event, the restaurant offers several options including a plated dinner, a seated dinner and a hors d'oeuvres buffet.

When I reviewed Grace & Grit, I likened its grits menu to an ice cream counter, largely because the number of varieties was overwhelming and most of the preparations skewed sweet. But now the restaurant really is offering what amounts to savory grits sundaes, allowing customers to choose grits type, sauces and toppings. Think of it as the Southern version of Kairos, which also got its start in Mount Pleasant.

Several places downtown were also mentioned such as Basic Kitchen, Taco Boy, Rancho Lewis, Lewis BBQ, and Republic Ice Cream. From personal experience, I know that Lewis BBQ knows exactly what is in all of their food items and can tell you which ones are safe and which ones are not. Thank God grits are gluten-free, because we all know that’s a southern foodie staple!. Grace & Grit is my top recommendation, because with 10+ grit flavor options, you can order a grit flight. This is also a great gluten-free brunch spot option, especially as many folks build their own menu by ordering a variety of sides… not to mention they have some killer brunch cocktails!
