From a point in Burlington, Vt., on the shore of Lake Champlain, a small troop of American soldiers fired a 13-gun battery in 1813 and routed three attacking British ships. The site, was later named Battery Park and decorated with commemorative statuary and cannonry. Battery Park is better known today as a spot for watching brilliant sunsets over the lake against the backdrop of the Adirondack Mountains of New York - a spectacle that William Dean Howells declared to be superior to the evening view over the Bay of Naples.

The space will now be known as Rincon – the Spanish word for corner, much like the prominent one the building occupies downtown – and will specialize in pizza, tapas, cocktails and live music. Burlington Bagel Bakery has extremely good bagel sandwiches for reasonable prices. I adore their Camel's Hump; it's something like lettuce, tomato, chicken, bacon, cheese, and your choice of condiment for 5-6 bucks.

When you walk into Butch and Babe’s restaurant in the Old North End of Burlington, you can see the kitchen right away. That's where head chef Jackie Major moves expertly between the grill and the stove.

If you go to this place, I’d recommend going for the bagels (which are fantastic) and not the coffee. The maple lattee was just okay and rather pricy for the size.
