What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the exceptionally fresh, high-quality oysters and the stunning waterfront views, often calling it a 'special place'. While the unique outdoor ambiance and friendly staff are highlights, some visitors note the high prices and smaller portions, suggesting it's more of a novelty experience than a daily dining spot. Reservations are strongly advised due to its popularity.
"Awesome place! Good food. Spendy! $55 for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, 2 cups of soup, a can o' beer, and a cola. Views are unsurpassed. Heated wooden TeePees are awesome for enjoying Hood Canal with lunch while staying out of the rain. Great place to stop while visiting Hood Canal!"

"Hama Hama Oyster Saloon – Good Once, But Not Worth Returning
Hama Hama Oyster Saloon was decent overall, but I wouldn’t return due to the steep prices that didn’t quite match the quality or portion size of the food. Don’t get me wrong—the fries from the food truck were fantastic, perfectly crispy and golden—but at over $20 for a small portion, it felt far overpriced for what you got.
The whole experience had more of a tourist-trap feel, especially since the food truck menu items were all $20+ and the portions were modest. If you’re just here for oysters, clams, or crabs, you might enjoy it for the novelty, but it’s not the best value. We tried the “U-shuck” oysters—$24 for a dozen small oysters that we had to shuck ourselves. Honestly, we’ve caught oysters far larger than these, so the size was underwhelming.
Our visit was on a Saturday with a group of eight, so the wait for a table was about an hour and a half. That long wait may have been due to our group size, but it’s worth noting if you’re planning a weekend visit. We stuck to the food truck and oyster station, so I can’t comment on the main table-service menu.
On the plus side, there’s a small shop next door with some cute offerings, and I liked the brown-tinted seating—it gave the place some charm. The atmosphere was family-friendly with plenty of seating, and while service was minimal for the food truck area, it was fine for what it was.
I’m glad we visited once for the experience, but between the high prices, small portions, and long wait times, it’s not somewhere I’d return to at the same price point."

"Out in the middle of nowhere, this place draws crowds from all around...even out of state. We went for a family member's birthday and the visit was a nice and memorable treat. Oysters and clams abound! It was busy (I hear it always is) and the wait on the food only somewhat reflected it. Bathrooms are outside port-a-potties, outside has some coverings for dining and makes for a cool "portside" experience. A good novelty. Local drinks and a food truck (with limited offerings), if only oysters aren't your thing."
