Reviews Summary
440 Main offers an upscale dining experience with Cajun-inspired cuisine in a historic building. Diners praise the attentive service and the rich, intimate ambiance. While many rave about signature dishes like the Gumbo and Champagne Chicken, some find the prices high for the portion sizes, particularly for entrees like the scallop dish.
"We really liked this place!! The food was great! Our waitress was very nice, attentive, answered all our questions professionally yet with a sweet personality as well.
We sat in a booth on the bar side which we really enjoyed the atmosphere there. There are outside seating options along the sidewalk. The Bowling Green square still has beautiful old architecture with a center garden with statues and water fountain.
We live near Nashville Tennessee and we all agreed that it would be worth coming back again."

"My wife and I had a fantastic dinner at 440 Main during a recent date night in Bowling Green, and we’re still talking about it days later. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy, with warm lighting, historic charm, and the kind of Southern hospitality that makes you feel like you're in the right place the moment you walk in.
We started with the BBQ shrimp appetizer, and let me just say it was incredible. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, tender with just the right amount of smoky heat, and the sauce was so good we shamelessly sopped it up with bread. One of the best apps we’ve had in a long time.
For the main course, I went with the Southern Style Crab Cakes paired with their grilled Caesar salad. The crab cakes were rich, full of flavor, and actually packed with crab, not filler like you sometimes get elsewhere. The grilled Caesar was a cool twist on a classic, with that smoky char adding something special. My wife had the Pasta Louisiana, which she loved. Plenty of spice, big flavor, and a portion generous enough that I got to sneak a few bites. She also had the Caesar salad, and we both agreed it might be our new go-to version.
Everything about the night, from the attentive service to the food and the setting, was top notch. If you’re in Bowling Green and looking for a spot that blends New Orleans flair with Southern soul, this is it. We’ll definitely be back."

"Incredibly expensive for what you get. Had the scallop entree. It had three scallops, each about the size of a quarter, and a strip of mixed vegetables...$38. So each scallop cost you 10 bucks, if you estimate the vegetables at $8 (and $8 was pretty high for the scant vegetables). The atmosphere was great. The service was very good. The blue crab claws were good, the mushroom appetizer was terribly salty (so much so that we left two of the five of them untouched). Overall I would give the experience an okay, but paying the bill was painful. We got two appetizers, and split an entree and it cost us 80 bucks."
